The people at the hotel are very friendly, they have good personal touch to their guests. It's a great get-away hotel for couples. They use good quality bathroom equipment also. The breakfast has a hearty selection of choices.

stayed there with my wife a couple of days ago. It is a family-run hotel. Its name is gounded in history, it means asthma-hotel, as in the old days it used do be a preventorium for city people with a weak constitution. Now it has become a wondeful place, cosy, refined, romantic. >>The staff are also very kind and helpful.... More

For the first holiday with our two month old son, we stayed at Hotel Astel for a few days. We immediately felt welcome, the staff (speaking 3-4 languages) was very friendly and gave us a map with interesting spots of De Haan and recommended a few good restaurants. The hotel, just a few steps from the sea, has been refurbished... More

What a fabulous welcome we received by the son of the proprietor. He explained that they were not serving food other than breakfast. It seems really rude but we have momentarily forgot his name but he gave us a map of all the restaurants in De Haan and recommended a few. We were then given our room which perhaps was... More

Although the hotel doesn't have a sea view (like most hotels in De Haan) it is only a few steps from the sea front walkway and beach (both of which are very nice and clean). There are also small shops nearby and plenty of other hotels with restaurants so there is quite a lot of choice for eating (though many... More

I'm just back from a 2-night stay and thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. The staff are delightful: informed, smiling, friendly, efficient. Breakfast is taken in a lovely bright room. There is a selection of cereals, breads, pastries, eggs, juices (very good quality orange juice with bits!). Everything is displayed on stylish crockery. I had a standard room which was a generous... We had a lovely week-end at the Astel-hotel. It located very nearby the beach in the De Haan-village. It has been renovated recently in a very stylish way: absolutely suberb ! It's being run by a friendly family that treat you as a King. Accomodation is super as well as the breakfast. We definately will return !

This hotel is situated approximately 100yds from the beach area of the Belgium resort of De Haan. I would judge his hotel to truly be of 4 star quality, everywhere within the hotel is absolutely top class and even the toilets are worth a mention for their absolute cleanliness. Whilst the accommodation is quite costly for British standards (room charge... More
