Lamberts Bay itself is a bit grim and desolate, and the hotel, behind the factories is as good as it gets - there is no reason to complain about the place, the pub is fun, the people friendly and welcoming, the room clean and tidy.

Lambertsbay has always been a fulltime fishing and fish factory village but it is no longer the place it use to be 25 years ago when we last visited. Those were the years when crayfish was still very affordable. Fisherman were quite busy as there was a good Snoek run. The hotel is slightly run down but still clean and... More

The Hotel has clearly seen better days. The rear entrance, from the parking area, is scruffy and dirty with loose wires dangling from the wall. The rooms are below par with threadbare linen. We had requested a room with a shower only to find that the shower was above the bath. and a hazard to use. Unfortunately we had arrived... More

My wife and I visited the pub on Sunday afternoon. Both the Barman and change of shift Barlady were friendly polite and gave us an excellent insight of Lamberts Bay. We loved the vibe & atmosphere in the pub especially all of the fun posters on the walls which were impressive and made us laugh. Later on one of the... More

Started in 1888, then known at the Marine Hotel, this is the only proper hotel in this small holiday resort /fishing / potato chip factory/ crayfish festival / etc town. There have been many makeovers and it is currently comfortable, modern and light. The outside of the hotel is unpromising. Most upstairs rooms have balconies and mine included several pretty... We arrived on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Because there is no secure parking we needed to bring all our luggage inside with us. As we're on a 19 day road trip there was quite a lot. My husband had an accident some days earlier & was struggling with walking. However, the receptionist put us in a second floor room, with... More

When in Lamberts Bay, this hotel is close enough to the beach and small harbor area and is a convenient stop for travelers passing through. It is from the mid 1950's era and has kept that charm. The hotel has a bar area with television and can get quite busy with local visitors when national sport events are taking place.... More
