I was blessed to visit Royal Sunset Island early in January. We were treated to the highest quality of service from all staff at the resort and felt like we had slipped away to paradise for a couple of days. This is a resort that is based on an island which also has locals living on it so you can... More

Atata Island is a slice of paradise. With only 250 residents (all friendly beautiful Tongans!), it is truely the real Tonga. You can snorkel the reef, surf the outer reefs, attend church and listen to the incredible voices of the church choir, spend all day swimming. The food is spectacular, with genuine Tongan delicacies on offer such as octopus (that... More

I want to share the experience I had with my kids at the Royal Sunset Island Resort. We had been there previously for a day trip. Which was fantastic. The next time we decided to go we spent a weekend there. We were met on the jetty by the very welcoming manageress, along with a drink. The hospitality just gets better after that.... More

My husband and I were looking for a few days break from the main land and were not disappointed. A stunning island with warm crystal blue water right at our door step, great snorkeling just meters swimming out from our accommodation or there is a boat which will take you out. Best sunsets I have ever seen, great food and... More

We recently returned from a two week break in Tonga and after spending the first week on Nuku álofa we journeyed to Átata Island and it is there that we really began to relax and unwind. From the moment we arrived to the final parting at the International Airport we were treated with kindness and respect. The Tongans are lovely... More

I could not have asked for a better tropical getaway! It was perfect. My friends and I enjoyed a relaxing week of swimming, snorkling, and lying around the beach. Brilliant hospitality, good food, great bar, privacy, peace and quiet. We had no choice but to relax - it was just what we all needed. The manager, Lucia, and all the... More

The new owner Murray is doing a great job in renovating and upgrading the resort. We had a wonderful stay with our kids and had a really good time. We visited the school and village and had a lot of fun and plenty of relaxation. We took the kids snorkeling to see the giant clams which was very cool. They... More

We went out to Royal Sunset Resort as a day trip from Nuku'alofa. It was a lovely escape from the noise of the mainland. We were welcomed with a complimentary juice by the lovely Lusia who continued to look after us throughout the day. We enjoyed the free snorkelling - two guys took us out to the reef and waiting... We set out for a complete relaxing holiday which yes we did have, but not quite the way we expected. We were anticipating a nice, well set up resort, activities to keep our teenagers occupied, hot water and no rats. Unfortunately, it was all a bit shabby and yes, it was getting updated, but we unaware of this and would... More
