After a 3 week cruise to Antarctica, I grabbed my gear and jumped off the boat in Lyttleton. What a beautiful little town! I was very fortunate to find Dockside, especially on such short notice, and even moreso to meet it's owner, Kathy. Just a short walk from town, I was able to look out over the harbor and watch... And so close to town! We stayed here for two nights and it was awesome. There's a market on Saturdays too so try and time your visit for this. There was even a friendly black and white cat who adopted us for our stay, I desperately wanted to take her home with us! Excellent communication regarding booking, access and payment.... More

Thank you very much for taking the time to write about your visit to Dockside and Lyttelton. Yes we are on the road to a great recovery and to hear about visitors enjoying this very special place goes a long way to lifting spirits (not that Lyttelton ever really allowed its self to feel down - just another challenge to... I arrived in Lyttleton from the airport in my hire-car with a confirmed three-night booking at Dockside. I had programmed the address into my GPS and aimed my car for the Dockside's address. Following the directions of the chirpy lady in the little box on my windscreen, I approached my destination marked by the chequered flag on the screen. Roadside... More

My stay here was comfortable. The accommodation was very clean and well equipped with a comfy bed and beautiful view. It also had a resident cat who was keen to visit and gave the place a homely touch. The owners of Dockside were lovely people, although I did not get to meet them in person, the communication I had with... More

With only one night remaining before boarding a plane back home, we decided to spend our last night outside of Christchurch in some place with character and preferably an ocean view. As it got later and later and our search around Lyttelton proved fruitless, we sourced some recommendations and found Dockside. Luckily, at such late notice, there was a cabin... More

We stayed here by chance when our other plans fell through. Lyttelton has been hit quite hard by the earthquakes in 2010/2011, so there is damage to roads and surrounding houses. However the apartments are virtually untouched and feel very safe. We found booking it easy and friendly and were more than pleasantly surprised when we turned up. The Studio... More

We stayed here as a friend was playing a gig just down the road. It turns out the accomodation was far larger and lovelier than we were expecting! Lovely views over the docks which was all lit up at night. The fact of the weather being misty and cold only added to the atmosphere of the little town and it's... More
