As we rolled into town Glenalvon Lodge was one of the first places we considered. Right across from the springs, well kept gardens and attractive buildings made it appealing. After some investigation we were pleased to discover it was also one of the best deals intown. The young gentleman (maybe owner) was very friendly and made us feel instantly welcome.... more

We arrived at the Glenalvon late evening but had phoned ahead and reserved the accommodation. The Reception were very helpful and the rooms were spacious and clean. There were no cooking facilities, just a fridge, tea/coffee, toaster and crockery. Ideal location for the thermal spas which are literally just across the road more

We visited Glenalvon on our arrival in NZ (after a drive in the rental car). We were given a friendly greeting and also information about the town and the hot pools Hanmer is known for. I was most impressed with 1 night stay. The studio unit was modern and very clean and tidy. There is no kitchen and the lounge/beds is all in one big room.
