Before you stay here ask the question “just how badly do I need the sleep?” If you are desperate I would advise a stop at “The Warehouse” to buy a cheap sleeping bag and pillow. Sleep in the car – it would be more comfortable. The writing was on the wall from walking into reception. The smell of smoking in... More

Never had such a disappointing stay in a hotel.... Upon arrival it looked nothing like the pictures online and the lady at check-in was un-helpful; she couldn't answer our questions and knew very little about the area and its surrounds. Upon further investigation it one of the most expensive accomodation places in town; I was also shocked when we were... More

Drove into this large motel conference complex that looks like it needs some care. Had prebooked one night .unit was clean and had been upgraded. Comfortable beds. Pillows needed three as not much substance to them. Older tv. Everything we needed was in unit. Probably overpriced as we paid $140 for lovely unit overlooking sea elsewhere. Unit advertised as river... More

A late1970's era motel, bathroom recently renovated, had good shower, but room had ripped carpets, old noisy 1970 fridge, and definitely not worth $150 a night. Fortunately we only slept there 2 nights. I wouldn't refer someone to it, lady/owner was nice, but the whole place needs a renovation internally and externally. Signage to find not great, though I lived... More

Excellent location far enough from Auckland yet not to far to drive after flight home. We were made to feel very welcome. Heater was on in room on anticipation of our arrival. Basic motel room yet very clean. Ample parking. Hard to find as there was no signage with lights to show entry to complex in the dark

As soon as we arrived we felt welcomed by the staff who escorted us to our room. We were given a family room which was huge and perfect for our large group of friends. we got a good night sleep after a short walk back from town as it is located away from SH1 traffic. We will totally be coming... More

Just better than camping: Not many positives, owners need to invest, looks to be 60s original inside and out, staff were friendly, shower was a drip, fridge was the smallest fridge I have ever seen. Should be budget accommodation , at very budget price

This is a rundown poorly managed Motel, we booked for 3 nights via Wotif. On arrival the poor condition we decided to only stay for 2 nights. Rang Wotif and changed the booking, however they needed Kaye's okay to ensure we only stayed 2 nights. The Office staff confirm all okay when we handed in the keys after the 2nd... More

We stayed at the Riverside of Cambridge as most of the motels in the area were either to expensive or were booked out. Kay the manager was very helpful in settling us in. Room was tidy with big opening French windows which when opened allowed fresh air into the room.Motel is a little out of the way and was very... More

We booked 3 rooms for a sporting event. It was the only accommodation available in Cambridge that weekend. The reception area was extremely run down and smelly. We should have walked out then before paying a cent. It went from bad to worse. The rooms were so run down. Carpet was worn and looked dirty. The enamel hand basins were... More
