We stayed at Cambrian for 2 nights. We had booked online and after an initial mix up at check in (our rooms were not configured as we had requested) we were shown to our rooms. This aside, the rooms were very spacious and clean. Showers were great and even though they are on the main road, there was little road... More

but very friendly service from the owners. Unit 8 where I stayed is a small studio with a couple of office-type chairs, no table and no cooking facilities other than a microwave. There is no sink in the kitchen and you would need to use the bathroom sink for any dishes. The bathroom sink has separate taps and no mixer... More

We stayed for two nights in a unit towards the back of the complex so although we heard the road noise wasn't too bad except when trucks came by. With the express way being built by passing the motel the road noise will not be a problem to the same extent. The separate kitchen and bathroom were spacious. We felt... More

This motel was great, very neat and spotlessly clean with pretty gardens and very friendly hosts. I made an error with my booking and they were very helpful and forgiving. The motel is very attractive and close to everything, easy to find, quiet and comfortable. The bathroom was simple but spacious and private. We had one queen bed and a... More

After the disaster of the Riverside in Cambridge, we nearly went home. Thank goodness we found this lovely motel, such warm friendly people, clean and excellent family size rooms. It changed our view of Cambridge accomadation. We highly recommend, you won't go wrong staying here, it was good value.

Like most accommodation in New Zealand this is expensive by European standards. However, when comparing others in Cambridge it is well worth it. The room is well laid out but lacked real cooking facilities. We knew this when we booked so were not disappointed. We still managed scranbled eggs and bacon and toast for breakfast. The decor is starting to... More

We have just returned from New Zealand where we spent a couple of nights at the Cambrian whilst we visited the local area, including Hobbiton. We had a side room which had separate bathroom and kitchen facilities with all the fittings we needed for this short stay. The lounge/bedroom was of a reasonable size. The owners were very friendly and... More

This place is furnished from the charity house. Continental quilt ragged, head board from the 70's. No sink to wash dishes - you had to do it in the bathroom sink where in the cupboard was the dish washing liquid - how hygienic is that. Fridge in the bedroom noisy. Shower curtain mouldy at the seams, towels ragged. But worst... More

Yes this couple did have a very temporary unforseen issue with the hot water. I apologized and explained to them that this would be very temporary. When they checked out she was very angry and said she was going to put a review on Tripadvisor. She was not happy with other aspects either. At that stage i did not want... More

Dissapointed with our dated front Studio which had ensuite handbasin in bedroom/ eating area rather than in ensuite. No sink. No power point for fitted Electric blanket but owner happily provided 2 extension leads. Owner couple very friendly & obliging. Location good & Huge tree among gardens dominating front most effectively. Consider ours a basic motel room with bonus of... More

Having rejected two motels in Cambridge due to poor rooms and high prices chose Cambrian because of TripAdvisor rating. Owner Diane was lovely, room was immaculate but typical of older NZ motels with basic fittings and no real design. Close to main road with some road noise but not too bad. All motels in Cambridge seemed expensive to us with... More
