Our family of 4 (two boys 9 and 11yrs) had a 3 day/2 night country escape from the Gold Coast to Stanthorpe - a chance to experience a 'real winter'. And we got just that, with overnight temps of -2deg - but with the very effective wood fire in our lovely self contained cottage, we were cosy and warm. The cottage we had was private, fairly new, well maintained and had everything you could need - including DVD player, electric blanket and hairdryer. We even got to see wild kangaroos on the property from our little verandah! Great national park nearby with some amazing granite boulder formations at Girraween National Park. more
