I was taking an early Spring trip through Cape Breton, and needed a place to stay when I arrived. Because I was coming in on a Friday night, and had a long drive to get there, I was going to arrive quite late. Sandy was great with responding to emails promptly, and left a note on the front door for... More

stay: 4 sept: comment from a senior couple having one week in Nova Scotia: After an experience with dark and gloomy B&B, we really loved how fresh and airy and spacious this home was. In the common area a Keurig coffee machine with pods, and small fridge were great assets to the comfort of guests. Parking in the rear and... More

Owner Sandi accommodated our family of 5 and even came to get us when we were lost and guided us in. The rooms where large and very comfortable...most have their own bathrooms. Our kids loved their stay here and waking up to the smell of the delicious breakfast cooking made them feel like they were at Grandma's house. This was... More

We had a room with a king size bed. It had a nice jacuzzi tub which surprised my wife (she loves them). The room was well decorated. The owner also gave a great recommendation for a local restaurant that we were quite pleased with. Wifi was provided but I had a few problems connecting from our room - not a... More

Owner Sandy is very friendly and accommodating. He allowed us to leave our car while we left for a three day bicycle trip. The rooms were clean, roomy and comfortable and the food was very good. Sandy was very helpful in giving us detailed directions for our bike trip.

Assisting our visitors with their plans is considered of considerable importance. When we are requested to provide suggestions for their Cape Breton experience it is considered a pleasure and responsibility. It is particularly satisfying when we are able to influence our visitors plans in a positive manner. Thank you for letting us know the high level of appreciation you had... More

My wife and I found the MacKenzie House B&B while looking for a place to spend one night in Port Hawksbury. We were pleased with our spacious and clean room. Then came a satisfying and tasty breakfast. If you're headed through - or to - Port Hawksbury, be sure to see if Sandy has a room available.

Sandy made us very comfortable in his home. We had a separate room above the pool table and truely enjoyed the quiet evenings. The breakfast was freshly prepared for us at different times on the two mornings we stayed there to better meet our plans. Sandy provided recommendations for food and entertainment that were great. He also helped us steer... More

Sandy is the owner operator and could not have been more gracious. Our room was neat, clean and with a back door to the yard. The breakfasts were delicious and so ample we skipped lunches. Port Hawkesbury was a stop between Halifax and Prince Edward Island so we could take some time to see Cape Breton. The town does not... More
