The Mackenzie House is clean, spacious, well lit, and has a very friendly host. Breakfast was also delicious. It feels a bit like you are staying in someone's guest bedroom (decoration was less charming than some, although clean and nicely appointed), but was very comfortable and exactly what we needed! We originally booked at the "top rated" B&B in Port... More

This was the perfect place for my family to stay. Everyone had their own private and spacious bedrooms with private baths and patio access, while they could all spend their evenings together in a common "living room" type environment. TV"s and wifi in every room. They did everything they could to resolve whatever issues came up, and were very friendly.... More

Sandy was a great host. He began with a warm welcome, helped us w/ our luggage. Very personable. Had a plate of pastries for snacking until a.m. and coffee was always available. Fabulous breakfast! I like sitting at the same table w/ other guests. His business is in his home, to which he has added rooms. They are spacious, clean... More

We recently stayed at this B&B and had a pleasant experience. Its convenient for touring the southern part of Cape Breton Island. Our room was spacious (Room 2) and on the first floor. There was a refrigerator available for guests as well as coffee and tea, and muffins. There is a also a laundry room that guests may use, for... More

We reserved a room with a king bed and a queen. The room was huge and the king was amazing! We're picky about pillows and these ones were soft and there were plenty of them. The bathroom was in the room and every morning Sandy made a hot tasty breakfast for everyone. We ended up staying in Port Hawkesbury an... More

I haven't stayed at a lot of B&Bs but I've never experienced one where someone wasn't there when we arrived and we had the place to ourselves. The key was left for us, the A/C was on, the room was comfortable and as pictured, it was just kind of weird to be there by ourselves. We were able to reach Sandy... More

I felt like I was visiting someone in their home. It was attractive enough. The owner was pleasant enough. The room comfortable enough. There just was not much that I could say that was outstanding, except for our conversation with the owner over breakfast. We were there in order to visit Cape Breton National Park. And that was the plus... More

I was taking an early Spring trip through Cape Breton, and needed a place to stay when I arrived. Because I was coming in on a Friday night, and had a long drive to get there, I was going to arrive quite late. Sandy was great with responding to emails promptly, and left a note on the front door for... More

stay: 4 sept: comment from a senior couple having one week in Nova Scotia: After an experience with dark and gloomy B&B, we really loved how fresh and airy and spacious this home was. In the common area a Keurig coffee machine with pods, and small fridge were great assets to the comfort of guests. Parking in the rear and... More
