We reserved a room with a king bed and a queen. The room was huge and the king was amazing! We're picky about pillows and these ones were soft and there were plenty of them. The bathroom was in the room and every morning Sandy made a hot tasty breakfast for everyone. We ended up staying in Port Hawkesbury an... More

I haven't stayed at a lot of B&Bs but I've never experienced one where someone wasn't there when we arrived and we had the place to ourselves. The key was left for us, the A/C was on, the room was comfortable and as pictured, it was just kind of weird to be there by ourselves. We were able to reach Sandy... More

I felt like I was visiting someone in their home. It was attractive enough. The owner was pleasant enough. The room comfortable enough. There just was not much that I could say that was outstanding, except for our conversation with the owner over breakfast. We were there in order to visit Cape Breton National Park. And that was the plus... More

I was taking an early Spring trip through Cape Breton, and needed a place to stay when I arrived. Because I was coming in on a Friday night, and had a long drive to get there, I was going to arrive quite late. Sandy was great with responding to emails promptly, and left a note on the front door for... More

stay: 4 sept: comment from a senior couple having one week in Nova Scotia: After an experience with dark and gloomy B&B, we really loved how fresh and airy and spacious this home was. In the common area a Keurig coffee machine with pods, and small fridge were great assets to the comfort of guests. Parking in the rear and... More

Owner Sandi accommodated our family of 5 and even came to get us when we were lost and guided us in. The rooms where large and very comfortable...most have their own bathrooms. Our kids loved their stay here and waking up to the smell of the delicious breakfast cooking made them feel like they were at Grandma's house. This was... More

We had a room with a king size bed. It had a nice jacuzzi tub which surprised my wife (she loves them). The room was well decorated. The owner also gave a great recommendation for a local restaurant that we were quite pleased with. Wifi was provided but I had a few problems connecting from our room - not a... More

Owner Sandy is very friendly and accommodating. He allowed us to leave our car while we left for a three day bicycle trip. The rooms were clean, roomy and comfortable and the food was very good. Sandy was very helpful in giving us detailed directions for our bike trip.

Assisting our visitors with their plans is considered of considerable importance. My wife and I found the MacKenzie House B&B while looking for a place to spend one night in Port Hawksbury. We were pleased with our spacious and clean room. Then came a satisfying and tasty breakfast. If you're headed through - or to - Port Hawksbury, be sure to see if Sandy has a room available.
