The hotel is going into disrepair. Some electric fixtures do not work, there is absolutely NO front desk service. No wakeup service, we were told to use the provided alarm clock whose alarm was not working (kept ringing every 10 minutes). When we reserved we were told that dinner was available, but the restaurant is closed. Breakfast is available only... more

Having stayed at the Marine Hotel in 1999 and 2000, I didn't think twice about booking. (I have stayed at the West Highland in Mallaig before and would not consider that again.) I travel in Scotland quite extensively and this is certainly the worst hotel I have stayed in. The staff were unwelcoming and glum and the service was painfully slow. There wasn't a friendly face in sight! The room smelt damp and there was no soap or shampoo provided in the en-suite bathroom.Towels had holes in them -big ones! No remote... more

Horrible hotel, unfriendly staff, shocking dinner menu, dirty rooms. Lovely location but much nicer places to stay within Mallaig. more
