Location: Ideal in the centre of the town. The rooms are spotless, cleaned daily and tea / coffee and cereal freshened daily. The Saturday had music but was nothing to fuss over. It comes off by midnight. Loved the live Scottish music on Sunday. Bed was a bit too soft for me but I slept through the nights. Loved waking... More

We stayed here for 1 night and it was perfect and great value, the rooms were spotlessly clean, warm and extremely comfortable. The room was equipped with kettle, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and a mini bar type fridge with a fresh carton of milk and a little box of cereal for the morning-a lovely touch! The bathroom had everything from... More

We just poped into steam inn on the off chance last Sunday , was able to have a twin room, excellent room spotless, no breakfast but was pleasantly surprised to find boxes of cereal and fresh milk in the fridge, went to have a meal and again same excellent, hubby had curry and I had sizzling chicken, couldn't fault anything,... With the West Highland Hotel and the Marine Hotel shut for the winter, places to stay in Mallaig are limited but actually I'd choose to stay here again next time. The Steam Inn is right in the centre of Mallaig, so not far from the station and pier. The inn warns guests that the rooms could be noisy but my... More

We came by the ferry. The Inn in the center of town. Cosy pub, friendly staff. Very well equipped room. Clean and felt new. No noise from the pub (if there had been we would have joined the party) The food in the pub was excellent. Good value for the money. The Inn is close to the station, we left... More

Stayed in Mallaig because we couldn't find any accommodation anywhere else and ended up at the Steam Inn more out of desperation. But the best rooms we experienced in 12 days, everything new, contemporary, spotlessly clean, and very good value. No breakfast as such but some cereals tea and coffee and fresh pastries a short walk away at the local... More

We ate here during a trip on the jacobite steam train. We had Sea bass and red mullet, Monkfish curry and a trio of fish. Mussells langostines and salmon mousse. My wife has a dairy allergy and i checked very clearly whether the seabass dish contained any dairy products including butter or yoghurt. The food arrived quickly and was very... More

Thank you for your review. I am glad to hear that you all enjoyed your meal with us at the Steam Inn. I am sorry that your wife became ill later in the day but I can assure you that there is no dairy used in our seabass dish. And I must add, the kitchen will always go out of... More

Just returned from an overnight at the Steam Inn. Accommodation stated room only and we were pleasantly surprised to find tea and coffee making facilities along with two boxes of cereal and a pint of milk stored in a mini fridge. We found the level of cleanliness to be superb and room size adequate. The food served in the restaurant... More

The good news...the rooms are large; the beds comfortable; the bathrooms clean and relatively new; the daily service thorough; the tea & coffee facilities are well-stocked; the food in the restaurant is good; our waitress was excellent. The bad news...breakfast is a small packet of cereal in your room; the place is very noisy both inside and out.The rooms are... More

I am glad that you enjoyed your food and service in the restaurant and were comfortable in your rooms. I am sorry that your sleep quality was poor however, we do warn when booking and on arrival that rooms are above a busy pub and can be noisy, especially at the weekends when the pub is open until 1am. This... More

Located just above the restaurant, within a walking distance to the ferry terminal. Nicely furbished and super clean rooms are very comfortable, with its own LCD TV and ample space. The only drawback is that restaurant closes at 9 PM, as do all the other kitchens in the town. Otherwise, an excellent B&B!
