I have stayed regularly at places in B&Bs and hotels in Torridon and Gairloch and Ullapool. This hotel is shabby and needing an entire facelift. Though a prime location overlooking the water, it just doesnt merit a stay. Though bar staff were friendly, the owner was frankly rude. I would never reccomend this place.

We had an evening meal at this establishment during a stay in Lochcarron. The service was prompt and courteous and the food was standard fare which was well cooked. Probably the place looks a bit tired but the view from the eating area is outstanding. Both the fish and lasagne were palatable and keenly priced.

We popped into the hotel after ticking off a local Munro. It didn't look much from the outside, but it did have big windows with views to the loch. This part of the building is an extension where diners sit. The area next to the bar is a lot cosier. The staff were so friendly, and service was timely. The... More

Myself and my wife stayed nearby in Lochcarron a week ago, on the 2 days we spent in Lochcarron we ended up in the Lochcarron Hotel on nights, this place has that 'traditional no-nonsense' feel to it, the bar and restaurant are always bustling with a hugely warm friendly atmosphere, the food was great and very, very well priced! What we... More

Definitely 5 star if you are looking for a relaxed and welcoming place with delicious food. The owner was friendly, allowed us to leave our packs in the lounge and my dog to join us in the bar area. The food was delicious. We were both surprised at just how tasty it was. I recommend the Goats cheese salad in... More

Having visited Lochcarron some years ago I was looking forward to my stay at this hotel. The web site promised so much. Unfortunately the reality was somewhat different. The whole place is shabby and tired. We stayed just one night. I understand that the business is for sale, I do hope that someone with deep pockets can buy it and... More

We didn't eat here - thank god, but had a drink one evening and what we saw put us off visiting again. Everywhere seemed dirty and run down. Staff spent more time chatting and eating in the bar area than serving. All the staff seemed poorly presented and half asleep. Dog wandering around jumping on the sofas. Awful décor. The... More

We stopped in at the Lochcarron Hotel for lunch, it was extremely quiet apart from a couple of locals, bar staff weren't particularly attentive. The menu looked ok I ordered pea & ham soup with crusty bread and my boyfriend ordered a lunch platter of assorted meats, fresh bread and homemade pickles. When the food arrived the soup was so... We didn't stay here, but ate lunch in the restaurant....and wish we hadn't! Firstly we came in and I couldn't see any staff around, found a woman stood behind a reception bit at the bar, I asked if we just helped ourselves to a table and she barely even nodded. So took that as yes. We helped ourselves to a... More

We Stopped for 1 night in April while passing through. It's hard to be critical as we actually enjoyed our stay, but I have to be fair to other people who respect these reviews..... We had a really fun stay, a great night in the bar, the locals are very friendly, as are the owners and staff, the beer and... More
