We were travelling with two children (3 & 5), one of whom is so-called "special needs," which in his case means he is very intractable, unpredictable, and sometimes loud. Yet the staff at the QH made him, and all of us, feel perfectly welcome. The room was great. All the amentities were first class. The cooked breakfast was ample, well-cooked,... More

Stayed here for a night whilst visiting friends, very friendly and chatty welcome. Room comfortable and spacious, had problem with heating, soon resolved by Louisa , up her ladder!, bottled water, slippers and gown in room, we were on first floor of a sort of stable block in courtyard, felt ground floor may be a little dark, Excellent, freshly cooked... After a long walk with friends up on the old drove road it was a pleasing sight to see such a welcoming pub - open fire, great real ales and a very interesting menu. We opted for the bubble and squeak with cold roast beef and pickle which seemed a strange mix but was excellent and at a very reasonable... More

I visited The Queen's Head with a group of friends for lunch a couple of weekends ago. It was having a special French event, so I chose a coq au vin from the themed menu and enjoyed one of the best pub dishes I have had in a long time. The French onion soup starter was equally delicious and it... More

Don't live too far from this pub and of have friends in the village. Nice location for walks and a visit to a country pub. London prices at £6.20 for a large glass of wine. £18.00 for a bottle of house win every expensive. Back door left open for all the smoke from the smokers to come in the bar.... More

As vegetarians, we were slightly concerned by the absence of vegetarian dishes highlighted by a previous reviewer in August. However, since September, there has been a new landlady who, it seems, is keen to satisfy customer demands. Subsequently, we were treated to a delicious wild mushroom and mozzarella gratin (with tasty nuts in the topping). The pear, apple and kiwi... More

Just an average pub with a very limited menu. No fish or vegetarian options whatsoever. Poor customer service and lacked any atmosphere. I would not recommend this pub. Suggest trying else where. If they changed their menu and smiled a bit more I'd go back.

The Queens Head is comfortable country pub which serves very good food. It is well presented and very tasty without being too fussy.service can be a little slow at busy times, but very friendly.there are also a small number of rooms, but we didn't stay.

Just had lunch there today with our dog. Very nice pub, friendly efficient staff and the food was the best we've had in a pub for some time. Tasty, well presented and good portions for the reasonable price we paid. The three of us only had Mains but if those were anything to go by bring it on!! Highly recommended.

Came down to Dorset for a wedding this weekend and needed to stay close by. Our rooms were simply furnished but very comfortable with nice bathrooms. The welcome was very friendly and warm. The bars were bright and smart. The food was well cooked and delicious. Will be back
