NOT GREAT !!! Beds are comfy but the hotel itself is quite noisy, The decor looks like it's been rushed and really messy. The shower is AWFUL and doesn't regulate temperature and there is more power in a watering can and prepare to dry yourself with towels as fluffy as sandpaper. Breakfast is mostly microwaved and the fake HP sauce doesn't help or does the frosty reception from the lady cooking it who looked like she wanted to be anywhere but there ?? There is better places to stay for £98 So please check before booking here

This review if read by the owners /management is meant to be constructive and is in no way meant to be negative .The stair carpets to the rooms are in need of cleaning or replacing ,we stayed in room 1 very small ,no wardrobe ,the bathroom door does not open or close properly ,not enough storage space in general, tea and coffe not replaced .on the good side it was quiet and the bed was comfy and it was clean .The restaurant area is cold despite it being hot outside ,the salt was damp and the dispensers were going rusty the tables were sticky this was because of sanitiser though ,the beer food and service were all good .We felt that the staff were a little stand offish at first but this did improve, Breakfast was good and served quickly .In general our stay was ok but not great some attention to detail would have made the stay more enjoyable .The bench seats in the restaurant are too low for the tables making it a little uncomfortable to eat a meal .I travel a lot and stay in pubs and hotels some have been better and some worse the points i make are to help not hinder . The property is handy for sight seeing and is in a beautiful part of the world .

Before a couple of weeks ago I didn’t feel like coming back here due to the previous owners but when I heard that new owners had taken over the pub I was really intrigued to visiting again and compared to the last time I visited a long time ago the bar man I think he said his name was Josh when I asked him before I left, he was very polite and willing to go the extra mile, the food was very good & the range of pints that was available was really good too I will be visiting again

Booked for Sunday lunch, having eaten here before lockdown, however appears to now have different owners. The place was practically empty so should have realized that things were not the same. Meals came and looked sparse on the plate - 2 small slices of meat, 4 roast potatoes, 1 Yorkshire pudding, carrots and what seemed to us to be tinned peas. I dont like carrots which left only peas for me. Upon paying we were asked had we enjoyed it and my honest response was I was very disappointed especially with the veg and mentioned that I thought they had used tinned peas rather than an alternative fresh veg. We were out on the street when a man (assume he was the landlord) came to the door and shouted that they dont use tinned peas. I said overall I felt let down as I dont like carrots and the only other veg was peas, not even any mashed potatoes. His response was that they had took mash off the menu due to the cost - what!! If you cant serve a proper Sunday lunch at the price you advertise then either stop doing them or charge a little more. Will definitely not be returning.

Called in for a lunchtime pint. The Landlord and his partner were very welcoming and informative. Great location which showcased The Last of the Summer Wine memorabilia. Would recommend. We will definitely be calling in again.

If I could write two reviews, one for food (5 stars) and one for attitude to dogs (0 stars) I would. We stayed for 2 nights and ate there both evenings. The food was excellent and the cooked breakfasts too. However I felt very unwelcome because of their attitude to dogs. First morning at breakfast we were told to sit at a table on a hard floor and not a carpet "because there were LOTS of white hairs left on the carpet last night "(our dogs are brown!). They have a labrador puppy as well! There is also a member of staff who makes no secret of the fact she hates dogs and if looks could kill on Friday night we would be dead! She welcomed people who had no dogs and ignored us (apart from the filthy looks). She was also going around the locals whispering which made it a horrible atmosphere. Same attitude towards us at breakfast Saturday morning. She walked past the fireplace near our table and threw something in it at a distance, no doubt to try and frighten the dogs. What an awful woman. My husband also attempted to be friendly and chatty to the landlady whilst ordering our drinks Friday night and got a one word unfriendly reply. Definately would not return which is such a shame as the food was faultless.

The food is very good quality and friendly service. We came away very full due to the size of the portions. We have have been here quite a few times now, this time certainly will not the last. Thank you

Came for evenning meal, ordered steak was not asked how I wanted it cooking, stated I would like medium came back has medium rare, had to send back for further cooking ,told it had not been put down on order how I wanted it! Husband ordered pie and a pint which was advertised on board outside. False advertising didn't state it was only pints under £4.00. Extra knocked of price of pint after complaining.Landlord rude and grumpy was told not to come back to his pub.

Booked a table for myself & hubby , we have previously been before Lockdown a couple of times and the food was amazing. Staff lovely also and so welcoming. Arrived and given menu’s to peruse, but then told we could only have sandwiches as Chef was preparing for the upcoming steak night . We chose the fish butty, which was lovely came with salad & crisps. Bowl of chips with hubby’s which were very nice.
