Organised my sons 40th birthday barbecue at the Squirrel and was really impressed with everything about it. The staff all went out of their way to make sure everything went well, the food was first class beautifully presented and generously proportioned. The weather was a bit changeable on the day, so without any prompting, exclusive use of the Resturant area... More

We chose to dine upon a recommendation from other friends. The restaurant was empty except for one table in the bar and one in the lounge area. Service was pleasant and genuine from the young English girl. With regards the food it was not bad at all. My mussels came with a huge chunk of bread and fries but literally... More

Went for dinner, they cooked a vegan curry for our friend even though it's not on the menu, advanced notice was all they requested. Our son is Autistic & can be fussy about his food being cooked how he likes it, he actually said it was the BEST meal he had ever had which is high praise indeed. Staff could... More

Have eaten at The Squirrel a couple of times and on every occasion the food has been delicious. I have never encountered any of the issues raised in some of these reviews. I look forward to my next visit and hope it is soon!

We stayed for 1 night at a cost of £85. From the outside the hotel and pub looks attractive. But once inside reveals a totally different picture. The room we were in (no.6) was up a tiny narrow flight of stairs. Low ceilings, squeaky floorboard and a dreadfully small toilet and shower. Dirty carpets and a bed that make a... More

Found you by accident and glad we did. Driving home from Dover to Blandford in Dorset we turned off the A3 to look for somewhere to have lunch and stumbled across the Squirrel Inn. A lovely looking Inn from the outside proved to be just as attractive inside. A warm welcome was received from the staff at the bar. Ordered... More

The staff were very sweet but that was the only good thing in this establishment. After an hours wait, and one dinner short we were asked would we like tea or coffee as they had run out of dessert's.As there were four children in our party of fourteen ,this was not what we wanted to hear. We questioned the manager as... More

We stayed here for one night after a 10 mile country walk, and so we would have been happy to have a bed anywhere. As it happens the Squirrel was fine. The room (in a charming old building, beside the pub) was a little tired looking (old carpet and a bit of wear and tear on the furniture) but it... More

Despite booking our room months in advance, we turned up to find the room had been double booked and the best they could do was find us a room in a hotel in nearby Godalming. This messed up our group taxi plans (we were there for a wedding). Atrocious - give this place a wide berth.

Having stayed at the Squirrel many times I can say wholeheartedly it's a great experience and I'll be back many more times. The staff are always friendly and helpful and, while it may not suit those looking for a 5* hotel, if you want great food/beer/wine and a place to rest your head in a quiet rural setting, you'll be...
