However, it turned out to be a very pleasant experience - the reception was friendly, conference room very comfortable and the catering was top notch. The starship scandinavia rooms are fine except for the bizarre electrics which mean the bedside lights don't and the bathroom extractor doesn't. The real issue is the staff who seem to model their attitude on Kevin the Teenager. Anything is too much trouble and customers ruin their day. Unacceptable for a hotel charging almost £100 per night. more

The positives first, the staff we met who were recent recruits did try hard, and dealt with our problems politely under difficult circumstances, so the following remarks I believe reflect on the management and policies of the hotel rather than the day team. Came to the Manor House for a family wedding. First impressions were great - the setting and the house itself are tremendous.. but after waiting 10 minutes to get checked in - despite a member of staff being in the next room who kept looking at us! I stayed here with my partner over her Birthday weekend. The Manor House sits in an idyllic location creating a very relaxed atmosphere. This environment is perfectly complemented by the very approachable and professional staff. The facilities and rooms are of a superb quality as was the excellent breakfast. A lovely old 3-story manor converted into a conference centre and guest house. Godalming itself is a very charming town, which would provide most of the justification for coming here.
