One place was full so we tried the Golden Lion and what a good choice. The Carvery was lush, could not fault one thing. Meat was succulent, veg was spot on and the mash and roasties just as Iike them. Carvery for two and Bacardi/coke and a coke less than £19. Definitely recommend the place. One of the best meals I've... More

Just had 3 pleasant nights here. We were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed the easy going nature of the place and its friendly staff. The room was a good size with lovely fresh linen on the beds and nice "smellies" for use in the on sweet bathroom; we only had a bath, rather than a shower too, but... More

Stayed here whilst visiting friends in the area. Comfy bed, quiet, even though overlooking square. Breakfast was great. Some minor niggles, handles missing on the wardrobe, and chest of drawers, but good value. Only had breakfast, so can't comment on food, needed to be back before pub closed as you need to go through bar to get to rooms. Friendly... More

Just returned from a weekend away in Leyburn and this place was recommended to us by a fellow b and b guest who had been the previous evening. On a positive note the staff were friendly. Three of us dined here and ordered mains each. One requested a small fish and chips as would not have been able to eat... More

We have just returned from an Easter break in Leyburn and visited the Golden Lion a couple of times for evening drinks only. A comfortable bar with pleasant staff and management team, we were made to feel welcome. There is a diverse selection of customers and everyone seems to enjoy themselves. There is a well stocked bar which seems to... More

Had a wonderful Sunday dinner here and will be going back as soon as I can even though I live in Leeds. Staff are great.I did not stop at the hotel but would do if stopping in leyburn as the pub area was clean even though building work was going on.

We went to Leyburn for a market day out and stopped in the Golden Lion for lunch. We ordered 2 drinks that we received straight away. Our order was taken promptly but it went bad after that. We waited at least a half hour for our meal. We could hear a couple women in the kitchen chatting away. A couple... More

This appears to be the best pub in leyburn, we were staying next door at a sub standard hotel which we subsequently left as soon as we met the landlord and landlady! A live band was playing, the beer was good, the regulars were friendly, the staff were amazing, the rooms were nice and the bacon had incredible hangover curing... More

First time to Leyburn and called in at The Golden Lion. Landlady was extremely friendly. Decided to have a Sunday lunch and was fantastic value for money. £7.50 for large and £6.00 for medium. Beautiful home made Yorkshire puddings. Will definitley try again.
