This is the fourth time we have stopped at this great central hotel right in the market place. I booked about ten months ago and the lovely Debbie has always kept in touch and was great help about parking during this busy weekend. We stayed in a lovely twin room overlooking the market square. Lovely comfy beds and very clean.... More

We have now stayed here three times under three different managements. The first time was wonderful - the second time we made allowances for a new team - this was back to being adorable! We originally booked this not knowing about the 1940s event but it added an extra lustre to our stay. The staff were rushed off their feet... More

I was in leyburn at the weekend for the 1940's weekend, this particular pub had a live singer on and was very busy, the atmosphere was brilliant, shame about the bar staff. There was an older lady and a young blonde girl working when my partner and I came to get a drink, his pint of ale was fine however... More

Difficult to know where to start, we had the room above the bar the corridor light didn't work so it was a job to find the door keyhole ,the bed was very lumpy and uncomfortable We had a noisy night as we couldn't close the window due to the tv aerial coming through. The next morning we were unable to... More

Visited Leyburn for their annual 1940s weekend and decided to visit this establishment for a bite to eat. There were vintage singers singing at the front of the pub for the forties weekend and the bar staff got into the spirit by being clothed in forties attire also. The staff were very friendly considering how busy it was and if... More

My husband and I came here during a recent visit to Leyburn and we stopped by this pub several times both at night and during the day where we sat outside. Really friendly bar staff, decent prices and food is served too though we didn't sample any. Wifi that works which is a bonus for a visitor in Leyburn!!

The pub was recommended to us as a nice place to eat - what a let down. The young lady behind the bar was lovely but didn't really attend to our needs. We ordered from the rather limited menu and what turned up was not what was advertised. My partners meal almost resembled what he ordered, mine didn't. I ordered... More

One place was full so we tried the Golden Lion and what a good choice. The Carvery was lush, could not fault one thing. Meat was succulent, veg was spot on and the mash and roasties just as Iike them. Carvery for two and Bacardi/coke and a coke less than £19. Definitely recommend the place. One of the best meals I've... More

Just had 3 pleasant nights here. We were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed the easy going nature of the place and its friendly staff. The room was a good size with lovely fresh linen on the beds and nice "smellies" for use in the on sweet bathroom; we only had a bath, rather than a shower too, but... More

Stayed here whilst visiting friends in the area. Comfy bed, quiet, even though overlooking square. Breakfast was great. Some minor niggles, handles missing on the wardrobe, and chest of drawers, but good value. Only had breakfast, so can't comment on food, needed to be back before pub closed as you need to go through bar to get to rooms. Friendly... More
