Delicious breakfast of locally sourced food with lots of choice. Butcher's sausages and black pudding especially nice. Comfortable room off garden courtyard. Good location in interesting market town. Very friendly and helpful but gave us plenty of privacy. Would love to go back and can recommend to anyone.

we are 3 cousins, who had 2 rooms, very clean. The beds are really comfy & amazingly, you could not hear the traffic. 54 is only a short walk from the square in this lovely village. Tea & cake on arrival was an added treat. Breakfast, simply wonderful. Recommend 54 to anyone.

We were at a wedding in Helmsley and chose to stay here overnight, we were very happy with our choice! The welcome was very friendly and the room and facilities excellent. Breakfast was lovely with fresh produce cooked to order and served with a smile.

A friend recommended No. 54 as a place that my mum would love and she was so right. The three bedrooms surround a very pretty courtyard and are away from the main building and away from the main road so no road noise. We received a warm welcome from Lizzie and her lovely little dog Ruby. Our room was a... More

Stayed in the twin room with my best friend on Sat night. Liz was very welcoming and made us toasted teacakes on arrival. She had also put us 2 mini bottles of fizz in our room which was a lovely touch. The twin room is great and very spacious with a lounge area. Breakfast was spot on too. Would stay... More

No 54 has been our place of choice to stay over the five years our son attended Ampleforth. We always had an amazing welcome with offers of tea and cake after a long drive north. The rooms are lovely, at the end of a courtyard, so you have your own independence away from the main house. 5 star accommodation, lovely... More

I have been a long term visitor to Helmsley on business and have stayed in many of the more extravagant hotels in the town. I then discovered No 54 and will simply not stay anywhere else and have stayed there for at least 10 nights a year for the last The rooms are very comfortable, the good quality bed linen... More

We have just returned to Oxford having had two nights with Lizzie at 54. One cannot fault her attention to detail; lovely welcome, afternoon tea and delicious breakfasts. Able to cater for our three young children too! We will definitely be back to this wonderful home in what can only be described as a heavenly location.

No 54 faces onto a busy road but the rooms are behind the main building, around a garden courtyard, so no road noise can be heard. Lizzie served us fresh cake with cream to go with our cup of tea that we were enjoying in the courtyard in rare afternoon sunshine. While the wifi signal is fine in the garden... More
