We stayed at the black swan last night and it was fantastic. The rooms were spacious and clean and the dinner was fabulous. Very well presented and really tasty, good quality food. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going back.

My wife and I had a voucher for afternoon tea. As it was a hot day we opted to eat in the rear garden. We thoroughly enjoyed all the food, a selection of nice sandwiches, wonderful cakes, 2 massive scones each (with jam and cream), and a small glass each ,containing a lemon/raspberry syllabub type concoction. We both had pots... More

We stayed in August 2014 for one night with children and had a ground floor room at the rear of the hotel which was extremely nice and very comfortable. Had to have curtains closed to avoid rear car park users looking in to the room during the day light hours, The hotel's public rooms are well kept but it is... More

Stayed here for one night while attending a wedding, we had a Classic Double Bedroom, which was a nice size with a double bed, the bathroom was your typical shower over bath with the normal Molton Brown bath products, tea and coffee facilities, iron and ironing board, but no robes. We had a few issues when we arrived but these... More

We responded to a black swan email offering us the chance to sample the new 8 course autumn tasting menu and stop over, never cheap, but good value as the hotel and restaurant are excellent. First, we upgraded to a front of hotel old fashioned superior room - if they have them available ask the receptionist and do a deal... More

We enjoyed our wedding anniversary here in April, our room was lovely, comply bed. The meal for dinner was fab, really lovely. We had afternoon tea in the tea room which was nice. Although the scones weren't the best a bit rubbish really, a waste of calories. Very good service. Would go back.

The location is wonderful, but the hotel needs money spending on it, and some tighter management. The food is very disappointing (limited menu, small portions, attempting to be fashionable but not succeeding), the service (with one sparky South African the exception) slow and the rooms are faded and not kept well. It's expensive for what it is.

After staying at the Black Swan for a friends wedding , we promised to return due to the lovely area , great hotel, upbeat staff and fantastic food ....so we did 5 times in the last 18 months and although there has been some recent changes with staff the service has still been top notch from the packed lunches for... Were booked into a garden room but on arrival were offered a discounted upgrade to a feature room which we took after being shown different rooms. Room 15 was lovely with an entrance area with wardrobe/tea&coffee/trouser press and suitcase storage. This went through to the spacious bedroom with 2 chairs and an occasional table, large TV and beautiful oak leaf... More
