Loved this pub. Food well presented and good portions. Also pub seems to have been left untouched by interior designers. In other words it's a lovely, cosey traditional pub. The staff are friendly and very helpful. We only had a meal here and did not stay the night.

Just back from a wonderful two night break at The Wheatsheaf, and we would wholeheartedly recommend it. My wife and I travelled with Ella, our pet Labrador, and we felt immediately at home, such was the warmth of the welcome by all the team. It was an ideal base for three days of fresh air, and walking in the idyllic... More

Visited twice while staying in Carperby village.Took my black lab inside while having a superb meal.I had the steak pie and my wife had the Cumberland sausage with veg. Very very tasty and reasonable price. The meals were much better than the average pub style food one normally gets. We returned a couple of days later and had the Wensleydale burger... More

Just returned from our fourth visit, sure there will be a fifth . Rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and modern en suite facilities. The location is right in the heart of the Yorkshire dales offering stunning views all around. Claire & her staff are wonderful, hard working & extremely helpful. Even the locals in the bar make you feel... More

Met here for supper with several friends, two of whom have special dietary requirements. Everyone in our party was successfully catered for and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, result! Very friendly and helpful staff ensured a pleasant evening - we will definitely be returning.

We went to the Wheatsheaf a couple of weeks ago with my brother and stayed the weekend. My brother has been before and is known by Emily and Claire, the owners, and their welcome was very warm and welcoming. The staff were great and we even had a waiter on Saturday night who, after delivering our meals and asking us... More

We had a delicious bar meal here one evening during our Dales stay in nearby Preston under Scar. I had the cold ham, eggs and chips. There was plenty of lean ham 2 delicious eggs, fresh veg and proper chips. My husband had the Cumberland sausage meal which again was plentiful and served with fresh veg and chips. My daughter... We have stayed at this Hotel on several occasions,....but every time it just gets better, with friendly and efficient service, and good value. The quality of food is only exceeded by the quality of welcome we always receive when we visit, the rooms are excellent. The hotel is run by two very friendly young ladies who do everything they can... More

If one were told that people spent significant time together counting sheep while on their honeymoon, he or she might wonder about their marital compatibility. However in this case, the evidence is not, for us, as disappointing as it might initially seem. Mitigating circumstances unfold, as we learn via a tv episode, involving their modest beginnings as an official couple.... More
