We booked in the frantic few hours after the tour route was announced when availability was more important than ratings or reviews. However it was an excellent decision. The location, in a lovely Dales village was great and the thought they had put into a very busy weekend was excellent. They gave us a list of things they were doing... More

I spent two nights at the Wheatsheaf but felt it lacked atmosphere and staff were rarely in attendance. The room could have been cleaner and there was little choice for vegetarian meals, the one that I ate was not enjoyable and rather expensive. The surroundings are beautiful and there is plenty of parking space which was good.

This is the second time we have here and as before it was excellent. As classic car enthusiasts we require three things - good off road parking - good food and good beer. The Wheatsheaf ticks all the boxes. We will stay again. It's good to support a family run hotel.

The staff were very friendly, the food good but not exotic "pub grub" with excellent freshly cooked breakfast. Bedrooms comfortable and clean and we were given detailed walking packs for local walks. We stayed 2 nights with our American visitors and we all enjoyed the absolute quietness of the countryside and also the choice of real ales in the bar.... More

We were very much on the look out for a place to get away from it all and this hotel certainly hits the spot. We did our homework and the Wheatsheaf certainly had all the right reviews. The staff were really friendly and welcoming, showing concern and ascertaining if we'd had an evening meal as we were arriving post 8pm.... More

We had read good reviews about this hotel. It was clean, bedroom nice and bed was comfy. Staff had no rapour at all. It seems they didn't want to talk to you, just take your money. We were dissapointed in the way we were treat. Needless to say we will not be going back.

Thank you for taking the time to review our inn. We are glad that you found the inn clean and comfortable but are, of course, extremely disappointed that you found the staff had no rapport. This is certainly not the way that we like to conduct business and we pride ourselves on giving a personal service. We have contacted you... More

When Lady S reserved 8 nights here I have to admit that I was quite dubious. This seemed a little too long. However, and bearing in mind all the dale waking we had planned, 8 nights was just fine. The first thing to comment on is the amazing friendliness of all who work here. You could sense that everyone appeared... More

I have just returned from a three night stay here. Our family group included two 16 year olds. The Wheatsheaf is away from it all, Fantastic, a short walk across the fields to Aysgarth Falls is a must do. Clare, the owner and front of the house was very welcoming and all staff were very friendly and professional. A delight... More

Lovely B&B very welcoming, clean and efficient. Pub food was great in the evening and we took a fab evening stroll across the fields to Ashrigg Falls. Room was just what was need, clean and comfortable. Highly recommended.

We stayed here after walking the Herriot way for four days. It was a good place to rest after our walk. The inn seems to have set themselves a high standard and live up to it. We booked the small room, which was not crammed, and it was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom too was very clean and modern.... More
