I couldn't wait until I arrived home to write this review, I am writing it whilst I am on the train. I have just spend two wonderful nights at The Alma Inn and I can't sing it's praises high enough. From my arrival to departure the staff were great every single one of them, nothing was too much problem for... More

Recently extended and renovated to avery high standard without loosing historic charcater. Great food, real ales, comfort, warmth and friendly staff. Just 10 rooms, No. 9 has a spa bath, but very... Have been to the Alma before to a wedding and stayed overnight. It was really nice and food lovely.I was there again 2 weeks ago for lunch.I have to say the service was very slow for the amount of people in the bar.I had the Chicken Rissotto which was very poor, the rice was very over cooked and chicken very dry. Normaly... More

We ate at this pub last night with friends and enjoyed the food which was nicely presented. The pub is in a rather bleak location which was particularly so yesterday with rain and wind. Inside there was a nice log fire and staff were friendly The dining room has a function room next door and a band was playing which... More

Appalling. Greeting was abrupt and dismissive. Eating on Valentine's night I can only say that food was pretentious and poor. 1st course bizarre ... A mini main. Tasteless and ridiculously expensive for the quality. Lights on dimmers were turned up ... Then down - and up again etc !! Lacked atmosphere. The only reason I didn't complain at the time... More

Lunch at the alma blew me away! Stunning food. The best jam rolly polly I've ever had. Words fail me and I used to live in Singapore which means I can talk about food. The cake was perfect with tasty raspberry jam and custard with a melting silky texture. Can't recommend this highly enough. Brilliant. Die die must try.

We visited The Alma on Boxing Day for a family treat. There were 7 of us seated at a table for 12 so we were too spread out. We waited for half an hour before ordering any food whilst the staff stood around chatting at the bar. Luckily there was a magician floating round the few tables in the restaurant... More

My family and I went to the alma inn on Saturday the 3rd of January and I must say that it was my wife's idea rather than mine, arriving mid afternoon it was fairly quiet but enough people in to have some atmosphere, after ordering drinks from the bar we were shown to our table and from then on the...
