We ate here today with friends and we were all very impressed. We have eaten at a lot of pubs this year and this was definitely the best meal we have had. Friendly helpful landlady. Spotlessly clean and attractive decor. Can't wait for the next visit!

This was a great country pub to stay in. Room with ensuite fresh and clean. Welcoming place with warm friendly staff. A great breakfast as well. Highly recommended if you are traveling in this area. We have stayed in a number of similar in the past and this is right up there.

I stayed at Meonstoke as my first night walking the South Downs way. The pub is about I/2 mile from the path with another easy route back.I arrived at 1530 and, although they were closed, Nicki came and let me in and showed me to my room. The room was spotlessly clean, well appointed and absolutely perfect for my needs.... More

Just been today for our second lunch at this lovely pub since change of ownership and have to say we couldn't fault it one bit. We were celebrating my wife's birthday with relations and was so glad I had already booked the table several days in advance as it is now a very popular and busy eating establishment and can... Stopped here on the way back from Winchester, greeted by friendly service and a nice lunch menu. Sat out in the sunny pub garden and really enjoyed the crab baguettes served with chips and watercress. A very nice place to stop at, hope to come again sometime.

Small, but nice clean rooms and close to South Downs Way, ideal for walkers. We requested an early breakfast, be it a cold breakfast, and they accommodated us with no problems. Rooms We're very quiet as well.

We spent one night on our South Downs Way cycle. A warm welcome and fresh milk for afternoon tea in our comfortable rooms. The landlord and landlady were really hospitable and we had fantastic food. Judging by the number of people eating there it is very popular. After a lovely full English breakfast we were on our way. Highly recommended.

Second recent enjoyable visit prompts me to commend the all round quality of a pub meal at the Bucks. Good choice of tasty dishes, well presented. Friendly professional service. Can get busy but worth the wait. Well worth a try....and don't hesitate to take your walking boots and make an afternoon of it.

We stayed one night whilst walking the South Downs Way. Our room was on the first floor and had a bath, toiletries and hairdryer - great if you've had a long walk and don't want to carry too much stuff. It had tea and coffee making facilities and we loved that it had a cafetiere to make proper filter coffee;... More

I stayed only one night, whilst walking the South Downs Way. The Buck's Head was a very convenient stop, close to the SDW and provided a comfortable haven from the elements. Dinner was excellent, as was the (huge!) breakfast. My ground floor room was a bit chilly on arrival but the heater soon sorted that out. Nicki and the staff... More
