Popped in for a pint to see the refurbishment. Friendly staff/managers. Interior is an improvement, but rather bland. I guess they chose 'Pub look number X' and it just turned up in a box. Floor laid in the dark. Lovely location, but spoilt by extremely uncomfortable child-size garden furniture. No joke, it's far too small for anyone over 5ft tall.... More

Thank you for taking the time to review us after we have just taken over. The pub was designed before we came on board, equally the furniture was part of the purchase. I am sorry you found the seating uncomfortable, being only 5 foot myself, I guess I hadn't really noticed! We get some fantastic feedback over the facelift of... More

I stayed here with two friends as accommodation after day one of the South Downs Way. This pub has reopened after flooding and a complete ground floor refurbishment (to a very high standard). The new owners were very welcoming with clean rooms, a powerful shower, bath, great comfy bedding and fluffy pillows. Bathroom was missing a large mirror (my only,... More

Too modern inside for the oldy, worldy area. Food was nice, but not a very good starter menu. Land lady very friendly, but not once did a member of staff during our meal ask if everything was ok. Bit disappointed as we had visited this place several times in the past with its previous land lords and had always had... More

After this winter's flood, this family-run hotel and pub has been redecorated from top to bottom and just re-opened under new management. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, as are the locals in the pub and beer garden. Rooms are clean and well appointed. Food is limited at present, as they get their kitchen team in place, but with... More

Really excited for our first review, and great it was so positive. Quite rightly so, we waited patiently to get our kitchen team on board, and are delighted with the results. Come back again soon, and try one of our home cooked dishes. Thank you again. More

This beautifully located historic inn recently restored to its former glory will have bells on it to with the new owners. It will become a much loved cosy warm and friendly eatery the village has ever known in record time. Their attention to detail and homely touches will out the bucks head back on the map I wish the lovely... More

Stopped in for a Sunday roast as the road to Wickam was closed due to black ice/accident, never been into this pub before although I have meant to for some years. Found the welcome and the food to be very good, will definitely pay another visit, probably when it's a bit warmer so I can sit in the beer garden... More

I booked a night in a double room for the night prior to the great south run, largely because the only accommodation left in Portsmouth either looked abysmal or very expensive. I wasn't expecting much and I was pleasantly surprised. Our room was warm, clean and tidy with a nice comfy bed as well as the usual tea/coffee facilities and... More

We had a lovely welcome from the staff at the Bucks Head, they cooked us a great roast dinner - definitely value for money and the log fires were burning, just what we needed after a long, cold day of walking. The accommodation was clean, cosy and very comfortable, we will definitely stay again.

We found this hotel a gem of an overnight stop on the South Downs Way. Its conveniently situated about halfway between Winchester and Buriton. It has only a few rooms so booking is advisable. On arrival we were able to enjoy hot baths, and use teamaking facilities in the room. The meals and drinks available downstairs in one of two... More

We stayed here for 1 night b&b. The warm welcome at the Bucks Head is just lovely. Very friendly. the location is lovely and the breakfast is perfectly good. However, the "beautifully decorated" rooms are not what we expected. Yes they are clean and acceptable but that is the most I could describe our room as, which was the twin... More
