We were not expecting The Chequers to be so nice! We drove past on a Sunday afternoon and thought we'd give it a try. It's nicely decorated inside and out which is always nice and there's plenty of tables to accommodate plenty of patrons. Staff were very friendly and attentive without being annoying which is great. We had the Beef... More

We have recently enjoyed a marvellous stay at the Chequers and can honestly say we could not find fault with anything. The staff are exceptional, the food lovely the rooms very comfortable The Inn itself has a great atmosphere, with a cosy log fire. We were checked in by Danny who was very friendly, helpful and professional. Thank you so... More

Had two nights here, booked B&B, but ate in each evening as convenient, good value and tasty. The oldest part of the building is 200 years plus and the extensions are sympathetic. Look out for the deep entrance to a tunnel in the restaurant. The mural is delightful. The breakfast was outstanding - a wide menu of hot dishes cooked... More

The Chequers is overall a very nice little pub and B&B. The staff are friendly and very helpful with the overall feel relaxed and welcoming. The accommodation is cosy, spacious and clean if slightly tired in the bathrooms but the character from the squeaky floorboards and nicely decorated bedrooms more than makes up for this. Dinner in the restaurant is... More

Just near where I neeeded to be and the Hotel room, staff and food where all great but what a le tdown the bathroom was. No plug for the bath, so had to have a shower which went all over the floor as shower head was fixed the wrong way. The lino was badly fitted so the water went under... More

The hotel was very pleasant, centrally located in the village opposite the church (with mercifully non-chiming clock). We stayed in a suite which was spacious and well equipped, with chaise longue, large flat screen TV and possibly the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Our room was above the packed dining room but was well insulated so there... More

Very nice hotel with lovely public bar downstairs. Hotel has pleasant rooms and serves a good breakfast. Very nice traditional old style bar with log fire and a few real ales on tap. Restaurant serves excellent food. Helpful staff will add an extra bed to your room for small children.

very good value at £65 for b+b and friendly service and good breakfast . Comfortable bed for my wife and me , but they offer a put-you-up z-bed for kids and that was hopelessly uncomfortable - our 12 year had an awful nights sleep and ended up just sleeping on the floor . Please - hotels - if you accept... More

I was down visiting friends in Sussex and this is the only bar that is local to there home so we popped round for a few evening drinks. Pleasantly surprised with the decking area out the back which is where we sat to enjoy a nice summers evening. Fair drinks selection on offer. 2 little issues where the staff spending... More
