Great place to stay and dine. A village pub on the outskirts of Durham. Walking distance from the Centre for the more mobile. The typical great value which one expects in Continental Europe, a good eating place with competitively priced accommodation. If you a parent of a university student or recent graduate, Seven Stars is an ideal place to stay.... More

Visited here in August, it was not as I had expected, I had asked for a table in the restaurant an got one in the bar! Food was good, fresh and well cooked and presented, however there were far too many red peppers on both the starter and the main. It was quiet, and therefore lacked atmosphere.

We enjoyed our two night stay at the Seven Stars, Shincliffe, when we visited Durham recently. The accommodation was good in an inn with real character instead of just another of the bland chain hotels that we're often forced to use. The staff and service were top notch and it was enjoyable to leave the car behind and walk along... More

There were 4 of us (older generation) staying for 2 nights. We'd found this place on TA, looking for a base around Durham for a few days exploring. All the staff we came across were excellent and couldn't be more helpful. The breakfast was very good indeed and there was a fair selection on the evening menu (all reasonably priced).... More

Took advantage of the Groupon deal for steak and chips. If you have just the deal -it's good value .Add peppercorn sauce, mushrooms and a bottle of red wine then the cost is ,of course pushed up. Nice surroundings in a very pretty village . Bar area separate from the restaurant -so a nice quiet meal.

Spent two lovely nights at the seven stars,as expected rooms were small and quite a busy road outside. If you just require a nice meal and a quiet drink this is for you,There is also a pub called the Rose tree just down the road which they also own,Bring plenty money as drinks are a tad expensive. Breakfast was average and... More

Stayed for one night in a single room - and just what I wanted. Somewhere quiet, with safe parking. Despite staying above a bar/restaurant I wasn't disturbed at all. Friendly staff, especially the manager/owner (?) who served me a tasty cooked veggie breakfast. It is full of character, with a steep, narrow staircase leading to the rooms. The one downside... Myself and husband spent a lovely weekend at this very welcoming Inn. We only stayed one night and it was perfectly situated for us. After parking our car on the lane outside Inn (loads of space)We walked into Durham by the river. Took us approx 35 mins. After venturing into the city and thoroughly enjoying ourselves we walked back to... More
