I have visited this establishment a number of times over the last nine years when the then-new owners took over. The building itself is attractive, while the staff are always friendly, the meals are superb and the prices good. I and several friends who visit their regularly have no hesitation in recommending the Seven Stars -except that it may make... More

I stayed for three nights. The serviceman quickly fixed the TV that was not switching on at first. Towels not changed on the second day. The above are the only complaints. Otherwise, the hotel is superb, the owner cum manager and family are kind, attentive and helpful. The restaurant is again of high class with great selection of ale, beers,... More

The Hotel is a car drive out of Durham but you can park there and take the local bus from right outside the door back into town which eliminates looking for a car park which is quite horrendous for parking. The accommodation included an evening meal which was world class and the breakfast none too shabby either. Room was quite... More

A friend and I visited the Seven Stars for Sunday lunch and found it a truly enjoyable experience. The service was exceptional with Michael attending to our every request down to the finest detail. The starters were outstanding (mushroom and thyme soup - to die for - and warm black pudding salad) and the traditional Sunday lunch was excellent with... More

A well run and very friendly hotel, rooms clean and well equipped. The breakfast was excellent, I can recommend the salmon and scrambled egg. The hotel is only a few minutes drive from the Science block at Durham University and the colleges off South Road. If you don't want to drive in to the city the park and ride is... More

Whilst getting work done on our house we decided to stay over at a place we regularly enjoy eating. It was exactly as we expected. Traditional, very clean & comfortable. Staff very friendly and food up to its usual great standard.

Premises olde world type horse brasses and stuffed animal heads adorn the walls, creating a warm cosy atmosphere in the bar, it also stocks several real ales which are worth trying not too pricey Hazel one of the barstaff was very knowledgeable about both the beers and the local area and pointed us in the right direction of what to... We selected this Inn from the English Inns website. We had a two night beak in Durham booked and were looking for a stopover so as to make the most of our time in Durham. Starting with the positives:- All of the staff were excellent, friendly, welcoming and helpful. We ate our evening meal in the restaurant where again the... More

Booked the seven stars last minute for one night for my wife and I while we met friends in Durham center. The hotel was 5 minutes drive £6 in a taxi to the center so location was good, we received a warm welcome, nice little bar and good selection of beers, Our room a bit on the small size but... More
