definitely an old inn nestling in some of the countries most beautiful scenery. we stayed for 2 nights in the silverthorne suite with 4 poster bed. the room was small but sufficient for us. the decor was in keeping with one of the other red carnation hotels that we have stayed in. the staff went out of their way to... My wife, 18 month old son and I stayed in the Evershot Suite for 5 nights and had a fantastic time. Great charming, quirky inn with fantastic staff who went out of their way to welcome our family and friends.

We were staying at Summer Lodge but, like many others before, felt like a quick change of scenery. We had an excellent dinner withy a very nice bottle of wine. The staff were professional and very likeable. I just wish there was a inn/restaurant of this quality a little nearer to Salisbury. Well done to the management.

The Acorn Inn makes much of its historic connection with Thomas Hardy and his character Tess but that and the excellent service did not lift this above average for us. Our 'superior' room was small with an ill-lit bathroom and cramped clothes storage (in the bathroom!). It enjoyed a car-park view but suffered noise from rooms around and above. The... More

We are however saddened to hear your comments about other aspects of your stay. We take great pride in our quality across the board and to discover, after the fact, that you were unhappy is a... We were staying at Summer Lodge but fancied something less full on food wise so came here. The menu was really nice and they had great daily specials which both of us had. My husband enjoyed his double lamb chop and I had the whiting which was super fresh and had a light batter. The homemade tartare sauce was superb.... More

Stopped overnight on the way to Devon. Arrived after hours but staff actually called us to give us the opportunity to order food even though we were arriving after kitchen closing time. The food was really good, the ale was really good and the selection of fine whiskies extensive... We were given a free upgrade to the four-poster suite and... More

Great staff in this beautiful inn. My doggy Bertie had a great stay with treats and towel, and I had fantastic paraben free toiletries from Ren. Beautiful rooms and tasty breakfast too. What a treat to find such a welcome.

Dear BertieJill It was such a pleasure to have you to stay with us and we are so pleased that you had such a great time with us. We are especially pleased that Bertie liked his treats and found his stay comfortable. We agree about the breakfast – it takes great will power to not indulge everyday. Hopefully we will... More

Our family came for an evening meal in the bar, and we all found the food to be excellent and good value for what we got. The service was attentive and friendly without being annoying. After having some rather disappointing meals out in the area it was a relief to find somewhere that suited everyone! Lovely setting too - picturesque... More

Thank you so much for your kind words we really appreciate the fact that you took the time and effort to let us know how much you enjoyed your dinner with us. We also think that you will battle to find a more picturesque village on a summer evening than Evershot. Thanks again Jack and Alex More

I have just returned from The Acorn Inn feeling like we were wrapped up in quintessentially the most idyllic location in deepest Dorset. My Husband had made a booking the day before for a one night stay to include our two dogs. On arrival we were made to feel so welcome. We were given plenty of information on the Hotels... More

I have been to the acorn once before and thought it would be the prefect place to have a great meal with friends. The service was excellent but my meal was very substandard. I had the confit duck which was fatty not crispy and the sauce which was supposedly rhubarb was nearly inedible. The potatoes were undercooked as well. In... More

Dear dorsetdiner88 We were extremely sorry to find out that you were dissatisfied with your meal here with us. We have so many lovely comments about the confit duck, the rhubarb for which we grow ourselves, that to find that we had not exceeded your expectations on this occasion is very disappointing. I am pleased that you found the service... More
