We only stayed for the one night, in Room 101 which was a family room and consisted of a double bed, one single and another single fold up bed, there was also a cot in the room which we didn't need. We arrived slightly early and were told to come back at 2.00 which was fine, so we had time... More

The hotel is situated on a large plot of beautiful grounds so first impressions are of a wonderful hotel however as you enter you realise that everything is a little dated. The rooms were spacious and clean however the beds were not as comfortable as the beds in the premier inn we stayed in the week previous for the same... More

Well...based on previous poor efforts on coastal hotels....I wasn't expecting much. But....superb. Just superb. Fabulous friendly staff...great facilities too. The hotel has a connection to a visual impairment charity so...you get to see some wonderful people with some wonderful guide dogs around the hotel and grounds. Also...the keyfobs and guides are all available in Braille. Commendable!..... But why don't the... More

Had a very enjoyable two nights here in August in two twin rooms, room 106, nice bright room, but very noisy road, room 205 on second floor, bit dark and only had a very small shower. Thus said, it is old fashioned, but that's what a typical English seaside town is all about. It is in a great location if... More

Really disappointed. Stayed over night at The Cliffden Hotel in Teignmouth 7-8th August 2014. Booked via Booking.com but did not get the rooms I'd booked. Specifically wanted two twin rooms as I was travelling with grown up children and other hotels seemed to be doubles which were unsuitable. When we arrived, we were informed that we had a twin and... Recently returned from our third stay (my father is visually impaired). This hotel welcomes everyone but specialises in catering for those with sight problems. As others have noted, it does need attention / TLC as the furnishings, dour furniture, decoration etc. need to be sorted. Also more could be done for blind such as handrails in corridors or more wet... More

The positives are the pool - really good size, life guard present, and was relatively quiet - often my partner and I were the only ones in the pool (end of July). The grounds are really well kept as well, and at the bottom of the gardens is a private gate which brings you out by the lido and the... More

We spent a night here, and whilst we were given a huge room, the whole appearance of the room and the en suite was very old fashioned, shabby, and rather depressing. This hotel specialises in catering for the blind, for which we heartily commend them. The staff in the dining room and bar could not have been more helpful, but... More

First the good: the grounds are really nice, more like a semi-formal park, however everywhere does look as though it needs a bit more TLC; the staff were friendly and helpful. The average: the room was a good size, but had a little bit of a dog odour (I accept that this hotel is service dog friendly, but the bedrooms... More

Initial impresion was of a very tired building but with georgeous views over the gardens. Reception was unwelcoming with minimal information. Bedroom was an attic room on the second floor at the back of building with a main road outside which was very noisy. The room was clean, fairly spacious, hard bed with basic bathroom. Swimming pool was great and... More
