We booked online last minute for a family break. Apparently we got the best price and I'm glad we didn't pay full price (although I suspect we did). The room had nice firm, comfortable mattresses, black out curtains, modern decor and facilities, good sound insulation and a great shower. Oh, wait: that was the Premier Inn we should have booked.... As we booked a weekend away last minute this was the only hotel available (now I know why...). The whole place needs a lot of money spent on. It looks tires and there's much renovation needed. Both my partner and I could not sleep as mattresses consisted of a layer of fabric covering metal springs, no padding whatsoever - the... More

Sadly this hotel is in need of updating. The reception area is a bit tired and shabby. The carpets and furnishings are dated. The bedroom (which was a great size and had comfortable beds) had a tiny television, which I (as a normally sighted person) would have had trouble seeing from the bed. The bath enamel was chipped in several... More

My husband and Booked this hotel for us and our daughter partner and grandson, upon arrival at reception we noticed guests with guide dogs checking in but didn't realise at time of booking which was with booking.com that the hotel was mainly for the visually impaired. The reception area is very poor and quite shabby this should be the first... More

We have just returned from a lovely 4 night stay at the Cliffden hotel, and I would definitely consider staying here again, should I return to Teignmouth. Our only one negative experience, was with one lady at reception, who was very abrupt and lacked decent customer service skills. All other staff members were extremely friendly and helpful, and made up... More

Room OK in need of a face lift as was the rest of the hotel. My husband is disabled and could not access the garden which was one of the main reasons we went for. Food not very good, we would not return.

We chose this hotel for two reasons. It was close to where my partner’s family live and that this is one of the few hotels that caters especially for people who are partially blind, such as my partner. When we arrived we found the receptionist came across as if we were interrupting her conversation (not a good start), however, the... More

I booked this hotel back in February as I knew August would be busy, I asked for a nice room with sea views and a balcony as it was our 45th anniversary so wanted something special. We arrived and the receptionist told us he had given us a lovely room which turned out to be family room, single bed ,... More

The Cliffden has a very noble ethos , that being, to care and cater for the needs of visually impaired and blind people. This can be seen in the number of instructions in Braille , pronounced stair rods and the acceptane of dogs within the premises. However taking this aside when judged as a hotel we were disappointed with the... More
