I will start by saying although the Cockhaven have new managers it is still as good as it has always been..We as a family frequent the cockhaven on a regular basis and were a bit apprehensive when we heard that Mandy and Roy were retiring but thought we would give the new people a chance..well I can honestly say Beverly... We live locally and have used the Cockhaven lot's it's our local really, sadly it may not be for much longer, having arrived at the foyer we were greeted by a large , bouncy white Boxer dog, we edged passed him , sat and got a drink , the dog was the new owners apparently according to staff they like... We have eaten here before and have always found the food and the service excellent. We have a caravan in Dawlish where we spent Christmas. We booked our Christmas day lunch in September and we asked if they wanted a deposit or pay in full to be told to pay nearer the time. The owner has always been very pleasant.... More

Absolutely fantastic meal. My wife had slow baked Lamb rump and I on my big birthday had pan fried venison (both cooked to perfection) 20/10 staff friendly and efficient ( even given a birthday ballon) thank for a most enjoyable meal see you again.

Christmas Lunch at the Cockhaven was to be a treat, having enjoyed their cuisine many times before ~ we booked in September with our usual friendly host and later surprised with a November media announcement that new owners were about to be installed. Not to be deterred we remained enthusiastic about our 2014 Festive Lunch. Christmas Day ~ no greeting... More

Three of us went for an early Christmas celebration at the beginning of December, and were all disappointed with our experience. We have dined many, many times at Cockhaven Manor, and when Christmas lunch was booked, were surprised to hear that it was under new management. This did not deter us, as we heard that many of the original staff... More

Have eaten here before and enjoyed it, so I thought we would stay for a night next visit. Should have stuck with the restaurant. The young staff are all still lovely and helpful but our room was terribly dated and cheaply furnished. The room was clean but just not up to standards expected in 2014. When water started leaking through... More

I enjoyed an excellent meal here with a group of 24 ladies (our annual Christmas per booked Outing) the problem was the place was freezing the radiators were cold and a small convector fire was brought in after someone mentioned how cold they were. If they had a heating failure it would have been nice if somebody had informed our... More

First visit here for a meal, the food was pretty good but the staff weren't overly attentive and the restaurant was dated. Upon leaving the restaurant we asked the new owner how everything was going to which he told us it was alright but a few "grumpy buggers" (referring to other customers there that evening! Didn't think it was very... More

We stayed here for a 60th wedding anniversary of one of our relatives. It's a bit like the Tardis, lots of little nooks and crannies. The staff couldn't have been more helpful; we were asked at every opportunity if there was anything else we needed. Yes, the room was a little dated but the bed was comfy!! We wouldn't hesitate...
