We stayed in West Wycombe as it was close to Heathrow Airport. When we booked it, we didn't realise what a historical town it was, with Church Lane, the mausoleum and Wycombe Park manor all close to town. The room was large, old but clean and tidy. The shower was a separate cubicle inside the room, which was unusual. The... More

I had removed my initial review as I finally received a response to my complaint (I had planned to put another review up but a little less angry) but has a month later no follow up came I am putting it back up. Our two initial complaints from our miserable night here were: 1. In room 11 on a windy... More

If you are looking for outstanding natural beauty, historical authenticity and heaps of English charm then you could not do better than stay at the George and Dragon in the spectacularly preserved village of High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire. This 1600s coaching inn is steeped in original architectural features, furnished sympathetically and oozes quintessential English atmosphere. Staff are friendly and obliging,... More

19 of us went to the George and Dragon for a post walk lunch yesterday and the food really was excellent. The roasts were delicious with a good selection of fresh vegetables, my only slight criticism was that I would personally have preferred a jug of gravy rather than the food being covered in it on the plate as i... Christmas eve dinner, the food was sumptuous and it was lovely of the chef to come out and check we were enjoying our food. Unfortunately our evening was slightly ruined by a waitress with less than good Christmas cheer. Tried to take our plates away within 5 mins of eating, forgot drinks and stood gossiping by our table. When we... More

i stayed here as my friend was getting married close by and I had room six! Stayed in the haunted bedroom and it was beautiful! The old four poster bed was the best night sleep I had had in ages it felt like luxury for a perfect price! The staff were friendly and accommodating they felt like old friends! Defiantly... More

The George and Dragon was built in 1720 on the site of an older inn dating back to the 14th century. It has one of the most unusual inn signs in England, a large oval sign depicting St George slaying the dragon, a sign which is probably as old as the inn itself. It is not very far from the... More

Been going to the George and Dragon for years off and on because it has had so many different owners and the food has been very variable. Had a lovely meal in the new dining room last night. The new chef has certainly got it right. Only negative was the white wine, served at room temperature - a strange thing... More

Popped in for some fish and chips during a summers day cycle. Prices a little much for nothing special, my fish and chips had the consistency of a wet nappy and when I complained, the manager only gave me half my money back as I'd started to eat. What a joke. Lovely looking place with steep history, sad the attitude... More

Visited the pub many years ago and always wanted to return. The location suited an overnight stay so booked and was immediately offered an upgrade. Chose not to go for the four poster bed option as I was a solo traveller. Having now read reviews on Tripadvisor someone must have had the same experience as me and I assume that... More
