History buffs and lovers of the best quality fresh food cannot fail to be impressed with this gem. With its relaxing atmosphere and superb menu, which is changed daily, this restaurant is not to be missed at any cost. I had grilled salmon in a mouth-watering crab sauce which simply melted in the mouth and thIs was followed by summer... More

As a family of four we arrived here for lunch on a Saturday. We were impressed with the overall feel of the establishment which has retained it's old world feel. The service was ok, but nothing to write home about. The food was very good and well worth the money.

Hotel was OK and comfortable enough for £65 . Service at breakfast was appalling - 25 minutes for a sausage sandwich - we were the only guests in the restaurant . The chap with the fair hair who served us breakfast and checked us out was pretty incompetent . We Booked through a hotel booking agent - when checking out... More

After dashing about Cornwall for several days, we ended our stay in UK here at one of the most charming spots! Very old and venerable establishment, I felt like I was at least in a Dickens novel--funny crooked roofs, wonderful stone foundations, plaid carpet in the foyer and stairs, a charming and friendly bar and dining area where we were... Lovely place! Great atmosphere! We stayed here one night with our three children (13,11 and 5) who all enoyed the old house and the stories of the place. The food was excellent as well as the service. Nearby is the Hellfire Caves which are also worth a visit.

A two night stay proved to be very disappointing in that our bedroom was dreadful. It was on an upper floor entered through a storeroom, smelt of mould and dampness, the only bedside lamp had a shade hanging in tatters and the 'en-suite' needed bulldozing. The restaurant ambience was good and menu gave varied selection with food quality good. The staff... More

We were a party of 12 with 6 children who went to visit the mausoleum and Hell-Fire Caves. We ended up making the bad mistake of eating here. Overpriced for the quality of food, portions very small, particularly the children's portions (maybe 10 grams of pasta full of tomato sauce instead of the 'penne' dish they asked for), the plates... We stayed here for 2 nights as we wanted to explore the local Chilterns area, and for that it was very well situated. Our room was basic, but clean. Decor slightly odd with plush red velvet curtains that seemed too long for the window, and the shower was disappointingly "weak". The staff were mainly very friendly, cheerful and helpful though... love this inn ! My boyfriend and I stayed here for a getaway.... Room was very comfortable we stayed in the 4 poster room. Bed was so comfortable I thought they were going to have a fight against on their hands to get us out of it. This is the only place that serves food however but it is good... More

We went to The George and Dragon after a visit to the village and caves. We were a bit dubious about eating there due to some of the previous reviews but a local lady recommended it. The staff were lovely, friendly, very professional and nothing was too much trouble. Our meal was one do the nicest we have had in... More
