An excellently presented guesthouse. The outside is bright, modern and fits in well with the local area. The bar is open and spacious with lots of seating. There was a large menu covering everything from locally court fish to steaks and burgers. Priced within budget and a good large portion was offered. The quality of the food was excellent, the... We were very pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the accommodations in this guesthouse - much better than we would have expected in a small village. Everything up to date and clean. Great place to stay when planning a trip to the Skellig Islands - boats leave from directly opposite the hotel.

It was our first time in Portmagee and coming from delightful Dingle we wondered if Portmagee would not be a bit of a come down - but on the contrary, we found this beautiful unspoilt, picture perfect village with amazing seaviews to be even more bewitching and romantic. The Moorings is set plum in the middle of the tiny villiage... More

Have been to moorings before and was always quiet happy with food and service. To have to have the steak in a fish restaurant is a disappointment in itself. The waitress was NOT helpful and not very attentive but that was noted and a new waitress served us who was much more helpful! I would say eat in the bar... More

Ideal location if you are heading to the Skelligs as boats leave from directly opposite hotel. Reception can put you in contact with boat operator if you haven't already pre booked. (would recommend pre booking boat like we did as limited spots available and highly sort after) Rooms were large and clean. Whilst full irish breakfast was included in price... More

The rooms are beautiful, impeccably clean and large. The staff were friendly and helpful (booking us a taxi). Expensive for a family of 4 with teenagers, but my dad has stayed here many times and always enjoyed it. For a Michael Skellig trip you just walk out of the door and over the road, so it's as close as you... More

Stayed there for a trip to the Skelligs for two nights. The owner gave us a free upgrade of the room which was very clean, quiet and with seaview. Breakfast was full irish and included in the room prize. The attached pub is very cozy and dinner there was delicious.

We stayed for 3 nights in mid July. Lovely food in bar, variety of tasty options for breakfast. We didn't book a sea view room but bedroom was neat and clean. We booked a ferry to Skellig Michael and would recommend anyone in the area to include this trip in their visit. Ferry leaves at 10am and returns about 3pm.... More

We arrived at the lovely port of Portmagee on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The Moorings guesthouse/bar/restaurant is center stage in the village overlooking the sea with the island of Valentia a few hundred yards from shore. I had hoped to travel out to the Skellig Islands the following day, but it was not to be, as there was a sea... More
