We had a wonderful overnight in portmagee. The moorings offer a great service, exceptionally friendly staff, in particular Ciarain stands out in my mind, very welcoming and informative. We had a wonderful meal in the bar, seafood chowder, fish cakes, cold seafood platter.... Just amazing. And I have to say the lemon sole for breakfast was a real treat. The... More

This sleepy little coastal town about half way through the ring of Kerry combines all of what makes Ireland approachable, charming and warm. The staff at the Moorings Guesthouse are friendly and attentive, the rooms clean and comfortable and the food and drink are delicious and plentiful!

We were given a gift of a night in the Moorings Guesthouse, I thought I should share our experience of the visit, it was superb and we would give it 10 out of 10 for several reasons, The accommodation is spacious, clean and overlooks the most wonderful fishing harbour, with plenty of outdoor seating where you can sit and watch... A wonderful little place with clean and quiet rooms. The food is also excellent and well priced. We only had one day here, but I wish it was more. The hotel is right on the harbor, so you can take a nice stroll by the fishing boats and water. This was my favorite hotel we stayed in in Ireland.

Background: Family of 3 including a very active 3 year old toddler boy. Toddler is well behaved although he can have his days. Location: In the middle of downtown Portmagee overlooking the fishing pier with boats. Hospitality: Good hospitality but nothing extraordinary. The Moorings is attached to the restaurant. As soon as you walk in you will see the reception,... More

Myself and a friend booked a nights stay here as we were booked on an early boat out to the Skelligs the next morning. The location couldn't be more perfect with the pier and car park only across the road from the Moorings. The staff were really pleasant and took a genuine interest in our travel plans asking all about... More

We visited during the off season so it was super quiet. The staff was more than accommodating and even let us roam around the gift shop even though it was closed for the season. The room was perfect for the stay and the restaurant/bar attached served great food and beer. Again, the staff of both the bar and hotel were... More

Stayed here for one evening on our road trip in Ireland. Having stayed in 8 different places in Ireland on that trip, this unfortunately was not our favourite. Why so? The room was comfortable enough but strangely was quite a long walk from our room to the front desk! Front desk's attitude to guests was lukewarm and we didn't feel... More
