Right in the heart of Mazan but quiet and secluded. Good views from the upstairs rooms. Excellent air conditioning made the hotel a pleasure to return to after a hot day out. Good interesting food and friendly service.

Arrived in torrential rain which didn't help! The place itself is very charming although it's rather oddly furnished, quirky comes to mind but so does weird, strange but charming all at the same time! Due to the poor weather there was no where to really sit down and relax apart from the hall area where we had coffee. Could have... More

This beautiful was formerly used by the infamous Marquis de Sade. Throughout decorated with odd novelties, paintings, sculptures and other items with a nod to a renascent France that indulged in opulent parties. Another building across the street, the ‘maison’, contains larger suites. Rooms are spacious, come completely in tiled flooring and with lovely bathrooms. WiFi can be found everywhere... More

Alice in Wonderland was first published 150 years ago, and this strange place could well have served as an inspiration behind that amazing tale! It is not impossible to imagine that Lewis Carroll visited the ancient village of Mazan (near Carpentras) and wound his way up the narrow lane to the side door that leads to the unimposing entrance of... Dear Madam, Thank you for comment. Chateau de Mazan is an independant hotel. We have turned this 18th century Caste into a Charme hotel. Decoration is very personnalized with a mix of antiques and decoration objects collected through the times from different places in France and Europe. Our guests often say that they have the feeling to stay in a... More

This airy, high-ceiling former chateau, once inhabited by the notorious Marquis de Sade, is a gem. Lovely setting, friendly staff, delicious food. The hotel is air conditioned, which helped greatly during the 100-degree temperature in Provence. The hotel is quirky in its decor, with a mix of French antiques and plush comfort, and life-sized mannequins throughout the common areas. The... More

The location is Mazan, a small village with several good and one great restaurant, which happens to be in a charming 4 star boutique hotel, once the family home of the de Sade family. The Chateau de Mazan is a wonderful resting place. All the rooms are charming and the staff (who speak English) are kind and helpful. I brought... More

My parents and I stayed here for 2 nights during a trip through Provence. This chateau hotel is located in the tiny village of Mazan, perfect for exploring other more famous Provencal villages. The chateau is very elegant but in a quirky/artistic way. It couldn't be more French. Everywhere you look there are interesting sculptures, paintings, and interesting details. We... More

We spent two weeks here with a painting group. It's centrally located to all that Provence has to offer, but you're staying in a historic yet decidedly quiet non-tourist-infested village. We loved it. Beautiful accommodations and outstanding food (!!!), thanks to Chef Franck Pujol.

I stayed at the Chateau with an organized group of artist for two weeks. The staff and service were outstanding. The food was excellent, always beautifully plated. The rooms and grounds were lovely. It's a challenged to keep 17 guests happy for two whole weeks, but the staff at the Chateau did just that.
