I've been taking groups to the Chateau de Mazan since 2006 as part of our cycling tours. Spyns former clients have always raved about it. Most recently, we had a large group there in July 2009 as part of our Tour de France tours to bike Mt Ventoux (just a few miles from the hotel). The reception staff, restaurant staff, and particularly the manager are all top-notch. It's a classic 18th century chateau but with a modern and fun interior. The rooms are bright, clean, and modern as are the bathrooms. There is also a wonderful garden and swimming pool. For cyclists, the location near Ventoux (one of the most famous climbs in France) is also a plus. There seem to be a number of mixed reviews on this site for one simple reason: expectations are wrong. This is a family-run hotel in a small village in France. If you the Mariott, 24-hour room service, and a gift shop, perhaps you should stay in nearby Avignon. If you'd like a beautiful hotel in a small Provencal village - Mazan is the perfect... more
