We were booked in here by our agent when looking for a property in this area so we didn't get to learn about this chateaux before seeing it, we were quite disappointed with the room we were given, as usually when we stay in a chateau, we actually are in the main building, and this was a very small room... Chateau Les Merles was to be a highlight of your 6 week holiday being the only 'Chateau' we were staying in. After paying for a deluxe room we expected to enjoy a stay in a lovely period style room with a view, unfortunately this was not the case. The upside of our stay was the exceptional service we encountered from... More

We came here for dinner only. We had a beautiful waitress who was very attentive & fun. Our meal was ok, but warm which I assume is because it was full so took time to come from the kitchen. The risotto was grim though & was left. The setting is lovely though & the service made up for the meal.... More

This is the second time myself and my husband have had the pleasure in staying at this beautiful hotel. The new Perigord kitchen served some of the most mouthwatering food we made it our mission to eat as much from the menu as possible during our week and not once were we disappointed. It was also a breath of fresh... More

The hotel staff are incredibly attentive and generous. Honestly cannot praise them enough. We enjoyed a lovely one night stay - the food was fantastic as well. The only criticism we could find was that the pool was a bit fresh! Will be coming back next year.

Overall our stay at Chateau les Merles was incredible. We are a couple in our mid 20's who wanted some down time to relax, the setting/hotel delivered perfectly. The whole area is very relaxed and laid back, with great wine & food served in & around the hotel. I have landed on 4*, this is only because there are a... More

Excellent retreat. Friendly, multi-lingual staff, efficient-yet-relaxed staff were at the heart of a very good stay. Good restaurant and pool. Didn't use the tennis courts nor the 9-hole golf course but locals came specially for golf followed by dinner which is always a good sign. Would definitely go again. And there is a 200-year-old historical connection - you'll have to... More

This is a great hotel for families. We went there with two other family parties. The atmosphere around the hotel and its grounds is very relaxed. The proprietor and his staff are friendly and helpful whilst at the same time being very professional . Some of us stayed in one of the villas and some stayed in the hotel -... More

The Hotel is in a good location for visiting interesting places along the Dordogne. We received a friendly welcome when we visited this Easter and the complimentary glass of sparkling wine and nibbles were a nice touch. We liked the simple black and white decor in our room which was spacious - however each room is different. We thoroughly enjoyed... More

We stayed for three nights at Chateau Les Merles, in April. We arrived about 10.45am after a short flight from East Midlands, checkin was not until 3 pm, however, we were welcomed, shown in for breakfast and the best coffee I've ever had! We were then given lots of suggestions for villages to visit for the rest of the day.... More
