This is a fantastic hostel! Elizabeth the owner is so welcoming, lovely and helpful. She also serves tasty and affordable Italian food at the on site restaurant. The rooms are comfortable with AC and we had a private bathroom. (We were actually upgraded to a room with private bathroom for no extra charge). There are lots of different places to... More

Tray the owner is from Tennessee. He is a retired air traffic controller and decided to open a hotel/hostel in Costa Rica. This is it, the Hotel Tucan. The rooms were clean and the amenities offered a shared kitchen area with refrigerator, plenty of outdoor hammocks under a common covered courtyard, an eating area where you can order a good... I speak for several of my fellow travelers when I say that the experience of staying at the Tucan far exceeded our expectations the first time we stayed. That's probably why we stayed several times after. This is the place to stay in Uvita! Live music, as the owners are themselves musicians, great food because one of the owners is... More

I spent two nights here and found the hostel to be very friendly from the owners down to the the housekeepers. I stayed in a mixed four bed dorm and it was very clean with comfortable beds and good sheets. The guests were mainly young backpackers, but all seemed friendly. I was a little disappointed in the restaurant, coming from... More

I stayed here for three nights while backpacking through Central America. While looking for a place to relax between Santa Catalina, Panama and San Jose, Costa Rica, a couple of friends recommended Uvita. Upon arriving at Tucan Hotel, I noticed that it had a very laid-back, communal vibe so I booked 3 nights. The dorm room was a little musty... More

This is a convenient litte hotel half way between San Jose and Puerto Jimenez, OSA. It is very affordable from hammocks for backpackers, to private rooms with A/C and bathrooms. The food is very good, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I especially love the owners, Tra and Betta, they are the best!! The hotel is conveniently located... More

They give you all the information you possiply need, even the directions to the deserted beaches (it takes about 30min to walk there), a waterfall and... More

Ive stayed at Hotel Tucan two times over 3 years. My first stay was excellent, and quite a bargain. I like the location near the jungle paths (for hiking), close to the grocery store, and I personally prefer the long walk to Playa Uvita through the scenic countryside. The owners are nice and very helpful, and the shared kitchen really... More

They have every thing, tons of hammocks, free coffee all day, free bikes, free wifi, awesome food. It was one of the most chill hostel I ever stayed at. And the staff Zoë are maybe the most beautiful & nicest Tica in whole Costa Rica! The owners also know everything about whole pacific coast and always smile and so helpful... More
