We stayed here for 2 nights. The lodge itself is wonderful and the sounds of the jungle are magical, super clean and near the waterfall. No faults there. The thing for us was the vibe. We are in our mid twenties and backpacking but are definitely not wild/crazy annoying drunk kind. We did not like staying here because it was... More

I'm sorry to read that but I guess you are right: We are more a family hostel because of our daughter then a real backpacker hostel... You were probably unlucky to stay here at the same time as those kids because most of the year it is pretty quiet. Thanks for your review! More

Cascada Verde is truly a piece of paradise. Our room was nice and clean and situated perfectly at the edge of the hostel so we felt privacy. We rented a mosquito net ($2) but didn't end up using it because we actually didn't get many bugs. There were a couple beetles because the room isn't totally enclosed (it's like a... More

Our family stayed here during the rainy season. The place is beautiful with expansive views, frog laden ponds, a laid back open public space and a large kitchen. Julie and her husband are very welcoming and reassuring while clearly sharing the rules of the house. The only problem we had was the odor of the bathroom in our room but... More

Probably the most stunning place I've ever stayed in!!! It was just like being in wonderland!!! The place is very clean, amazing kitchen, Stephan was very friendly and helpful! I really enjoyed watching the film "outside" (as everything is open)! The waterfall is like at 5minute walk and it's easy to hitch hike your way down to the city or... More

This hostel was awesome for many reasons. It had the largest and most well-equipped kitchen that I've seen in any hostel in my past 3 months of travel. The staff, especially Julie, were really welcoming and kept the hostel very clean during my entire stay. The whole vibe of this place makes you feel like you're staying in a large... More

Thankyou Julie for moving us to a quieter room to avoid the noise of a few selfish travelers. This is NOT a party hostel but a very well run place close to the jungle where you can chill out. But if you are a couple spend the extra and have a private bathroom to avoid the noise, baby making etc

I'm not an outdoorsy gal; I rarely go to the grocery store without make-up! I wanted my 25th birthday to be an adventure, and I wanted to really test myself. Cascada Verde made that very simple! Julie and Stephan were fantastic! They were able to answer all my questions from cabs, to the exchange rate, to where I needed to... More

I was supposed to go for 1 night and stayed 4! After a long trip of two weeks through CR I decided to stop in la cascada verde. Since I have arrived I have felt at home. The staff was very kind and helpful. Rooms are clean and the hostel is fully equipped. It is very close to the waterfall... More

We loved the Cascada verde. We returned because our kids begged us too. We stayed again on our return from Drakes Bay. The people were great with a wonderful large shared kitchen. We called it the tree house because the main shared living space did not have walls and it was in the jungle, down the street from a water... More
