It took us a long time to find this place as the signage is minimal. It's up a long dirt road which was a bit scary at night in our 2-wheel drive car. The owners are friendly, and grounds are pretty. The room itself was just ok. It was attractive enough, but smelled of mildew and had no AC. It's... More

Stayed here in a studio for 2 nights on our honeymoon. Peter and Marja were EXCELLENT hosts catering to our every need. Rooms were extremely clean, and modern, and a great value for the $. Only drawback was there was no ac, and room can become a little stuffy. There are ceiling fans that do make things a little cooler.We... More

I live in San Jose and wanted to go to the south for a weekend with my husband because we never have been there. They said there are beautiful beaches and if you are lucky you can see whales and dolphins. So we decided to go to Uvita due to the National Park Marino Ballena. We wanted to stay in... More

Me and my husband, we stayed at La Cacatua for the Festival de las Ballenas (Whales Festival) last september. It was the perfect place for us, it´s beautiful, quite, and peaceful. The room was very clean and spacious with a well equiped kitchen and an amazing mountain view. The location is perfect, close to beautiful beaches but away from all the... More

We saw on the internet pictures of La Cacatua Lodge and we thought that must be wonderful. So we booked for two nights. When we arrive it was just more beautiful than we imagined from the pictures. Just in the middle of the jungle you will find paradise. La Cacatua Lodge has a gorgeous garden with lots of different flowers,... More

We were in Costa Rica and decided to go south. We stopped in Uvita and went to la Cacatua Lodge. What a beautiful spot! It is a little romantic B&B and we had a gorgeous spacious clean room with a privacy terrace and a fridge. We like especially their garden because we spotted a lot of birds, butterflies and monkeys.... More

We stayed for 3 nights in this lodge and it was the best and most beautiful place we stayed in during our trip in Costa Rica. As we were travelling by bus it was very convenient that Peter picked us up at the bus stop and that we had the possibility to have home made diner with them. Marja is... More

In the middle of the high season, lured by a vacancy and a Punta Uvita guide's promise that that we would find toucans there, my friend and I bravely turned off the highway and carefully negotiated our way about 2km up a steep, heavily rutted, gravel track through dense forest to reach this astonishing little garden of Eden. There we... More

We traveled from Manuel Antonio to Uvita in early January 2011 as two couples. On our way down, we called and made the reservation with Cacatua Lodge and could not have been more pleased! The rooms are elegant and almost brand new, and the jungle view is incredible. Truly a great place to spend your time in the southern Pacific... More
