Peter and Maria are tremendously helpful, social, careful and good hosts. They seem to do almost anything themselves, making the whole stay feeling very personal, as if you are staying with friends. The lodges are perfect, luxury in the middle of the jungle. Good breakfast, good coffee, good dinner option. Definitely recommendable to couples, families and small groups.

Make no mistake you're in the middle of a jungle at La Cacatua Lodge, but you'll love it!! Exotic birds, butterflies, monkeys and a lot other animals may be seen on the property. From the outdoor terrace you have a clear view of the forest and the sunsets are incredible. From start Peter and Marja makes you feel welcome and... More

We enjoyed the peacefull stay at Cacatua Lodge with great service in many ways, always helpfull with tips. Our "Home" was as it should be, with beds of high quality. WiFi available !

We made the reservation to stay at La Cacatua months in advance, but it seems we got put in the worst possible room. The first 3 nights we succeeded in switching to a larger one with a full kitchenette, although not very functional because the lights are extremely dim and you can't see what you're doing. That stay was ok.... More

La Cacatua has lovely grounds, and our cabina had a kitchenette which was v handy. However there's a basic design problem: both our cabina and our friend's were mildewy. I think this is because the main window is actually the patio door, which is unscreened, so the place never airs out (and has no AC). Good location 10 mins from... More

Easy to reach from Uvita (approx. 10 driving minutes to town). Very nice property with a couple of double-bungalows in the garden, that offer all the basics you need. It's great to sit on the terrace and just watch the birds in the jungle and listen to the sounds of nature. Peter and Marja give you all the advise and... More

We live in Heredia and went for the “festival de Ballenas” to Uvita. We choose for this Lodge because of all the good reviews. The lodge is located in the jungle but fortunately not too far away from the beaches. It is really a special place. Our room was located in a beautiful garden with an amazing mountain view. We... On our way to Corcovado we stayed at La Cacatua Lodge. It was absolutely the best place where we stayed on our trip in Costa Rica, thanks to Tripadvisor. At the day of arrival the owners welcomed us with a nice free drink of the house. The hotel has nice cabins with beautiful decorated and clean rooms. There is a... More

I went for a couple nights to this nicely located place up the hills of Uvita and you can bet it was a good choice. Marja and Peter both made it fell like home and waited for our arrival awake late, which was very nice from them. Places are just fine, clean and basic but cozy and nicely decorated. Breakfast...
