Being one of the busiest dive resorts, the atmosphere is certainly the best and food is great. If you're diving with them you cant really argue at 25MR a night. The beds are clean (sheets given to you on arrival) and smelling fresh, but showers arent great. Staff are really lovely and happy to help with any travel plans.

There seems to be a lot of negativity about this place, so I was a bit hesitant about having to stay 2 nights here before our trip to Mabul. However we were incredibly surprised and pleased with our resultant stay. The room was great, it was really spacious, the bed was comfortable and the shower was very decent if small.... More

I only stayed one night, in a simple, clean, large a/c room that was quite decent for the price (Scuba Junkie adjusted rate - the "list" price would have been ridiculous). The next morning (around 7am) both showers on my floor didn't work, the toilets didn't flush and someone had puked into one sink. Obviously Scuba Junkie doesn't control the... More

First of all.. Semporna is not a very nice town and somehow this makes the Scuba Junkie Backpackers into a not so nice place aswell. We paid 70RM a night for a twin room with A/C and shared bathroom. The beds and sheets were clean, the room quite big. The bathrooms weren't very nice, smelled a bit, but if you're... More

If it wasn't for the older woman this would have been an unmitigated disaster. My friend and I were obviously an unwelcome distraction for the young guy on his mobile at the front counter. He wasn't interested in checking us in, giving us the room we had booked or letting us know where facilities were. Forget a welcome. The older... More

So the staffs are the BEST, but thats probably because I speak fluent malay! The aunty there actually got me tickets with the local fare to KK from RM75 to RM60, helped me carry my bags to the bus stop and send me off! Slept in the dorm, beds were fine, but air cond was HORRIBLE- best toilet is the... More

Stayed there for one night in the most expensive room to get to Mabul the next day. What a dump! It was awfull! The bathroom was absolutely disgusting, the aircon almost didn't work and the staf didn't even response at our feedback. Semporna is horrible also. Take another hotel if you go diving with Scuba junkie

We booked in to the dorm in scuba junkie dive lodge semporna. We got there around 4pm (2 hrs after check inn opened) we got shown to the dorm which still had someone else's bedding on. We advised the rude staff who said they would change them immediately. After waiting in the lobby for 30mins we went back to the... More

Once you've arrived in semporna, go with scuba-junkie - they'll make your stay in this dirty smelly town more tolerable. The place is clean and cheap, has free WiFi, warm water showers and aircon-rooms and is near to everything you need (bar, supermarket, divecentre, jetty, restaurants). Only the staff could be a bit friendlier. The dormbed is 25 RM, a... More
