What I liked: - the ground is really nice. Loved the sand pathways, wooden chairs - good food, a bit pricey for Tanzania, but Zanzibar is generally expensive - very quiet, romantic place Didn't like: - no housekeeping. You can leave the key during dinner and they were supposed to clean the room then. All they did was change towels.... More

In case you haven't noticed, Zanzibar is very pricy! We were having trouble finding a place that looked decent that wasn't out of our price range, and this place came really highly recommended. I'm so glad we ended up here. While it's not a luxury spot (no AC, some rooms older) it is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy... More

The hotel is good, its very quiet and you have privacy, bacause its a small hotel and frequented by couples! Good staff, very friendly and know everything about the tours! The restaurant is also good, the food is fresh and very tasty, they serve local dishes and also pasta, chicken... The price is ok, isn't expensive! Nice atmosphere too! However,... More

The Blue Oyster in Jambiani, Zanzibar, is a tropical paradise. I'm so glad we decided to stay in Jambiani versus the area in the north which is apparently much more built up. Jambiani was quiet -- just the way you'd imagine a tropical getaway. The location right on the beach cannot be beat. The whole resort is beautifully done and... More

Even if sometimes like they were trained to do so, the attention and care everyone on the hotel gives you is priceless. Also, apart from being located one hour and 15 minutes from stone town, the hotel is a small and shiny piece of tranquility in the sands of Jambiania Beach. Watching the tide goes up,and down from your balcony... More

The hotel is a very good choice and the staff very kind and efficent!! The sea view rooms are beautiful and very clean. You are really in front of the ocean! Also the restaurant is very good, there are a lot of different dishes you can choose. The breakfast is also wonderful, with lovely pankcakes and a lot of other... More

We stayed at the Blue Oyster after a Tanzania Safari and enjoyed every second of our stay there. The place is definitely not the luxurious resort type, but a worth every penny charming hotel. Idylic setting with palm trees, blue sea and white sand. Rooms have great sea view, good bed and moderate bath room. Very friendly staff and good... More

Kicked our tour of Zanzibar off staying here in May (on a recommendation). I'm no prolific reviewer, but these guys deserve a special mention, as this hotel was incredible. Idyllic setting, excellent value but what absolutely blew me away was the food. The Octopus curry changed my life, and the mango Kingfish was so good I ate it two days... More

Blue Oyster is lovely, friendly, and very well-managed by a terrifically energetic and communicative staff. The rooms are clean and sunny, the restaurant run by a great staff, especially the incomparable Valentino. Everyone is helpful and welcoming and they remember your name and your particularities. You can swim (even at low tide) in sparkingly clean turquoise waters, go snorkeling on... More

Went directly here after coming down from the Mt. Kilimanjaro summit. Was exactly the right choice. The hotel is very nice and clean. The staff is friendly and welcoming. There isn't much to do - you come here to relax. Got deep into Dumas' Vicomte de Bragalonne while chilling out. Snorkeling is just ok - but you get taken out... More
