Blue Oyster is a great little resort for a short get-away. No surprises - rooms and amenities were just as described on their website. The location is great - on a beautiful, quiet section of beach. Jambiani is low-key tourism, with no major hotels and few "hustlers" along the beach or hanging around the resort. Snorkeling with Captain Zaby is... More

We had lovely time at Blue Oyster, our room was with great ocean view and huge terrace. The bed was so comfy, covered with tent, as well nice touch was fruit basket upon arrival in the room and flowers for decoration. We liked the window frames because you can get fresh air during day and night and hear the ocean.... More

This hotel provided a beautiful, calm and relaxing break. The hotel room was pristine and beautifully laid out - with the added touch of flowers and being turned down each day! It was pure luxury! The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The hotel has many badges for supporting local employment and sustainable tourism - all of which... More

The east coast of Zanzibar is stunning, and Blue Oyster certainly makes the most of such a beautiful setting. The lack of sea at low tide is, as others have mentioned, a little annoying but certainly no disaster. Tidal times change daily, but we found we could swim with no trouble until 11/11.30am and then again from 4.30ish. And, given... More

We stayed at the Blue Oyster Hotel for six nights during our honeymoon. After an overland trip in Uganda and safari in Kenya, a nice hotel on a quiet beach was a blessing. We found the hotel very good, and it lived up to our expectations. Authentic african style, friendly staff, great views and quite isolatet. The beach is not... More

What I liked: - the ground is really nice. Loved the sand pathways, wooden chairs - good food, a bit pricey for Tanzania, but Zanzibar is generally expensive - very quiet, romantic place Didn't like: - no housekeeping. You can leave the key during dinner and they were supposed to clean the room then. All they did was change towels.... More

In case you haven't noticed, Zanzibar is very pricy! We were having trouble finding a place that looked decent that wasn't out of our price range, and this place came really highly recommended. I'm so glad we ended up here. While it's not a luxury spot (no AC, some rooms older) it is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy... More

The hotel is good, its very quiet and you have privacy, bacause its a small hotel and frequented by couples! Good staff, very friendly and know everything about the tours! The restaurant is also good, the food is fresh and very tasty, they serve local dishes and also pasta, chicken... The price is ok, isn't expensive! Nice atmosphere too! However,... More

The Blue Oyster in Jambiani, Zanzibar, is a tropical paradise. I'm so glad we decided to stay in Jambiani versus the area in the north which is apparently much more built up. Jambiani was quiet -- just the way you'd imagine a tropical getaway. The location right on the beach cannot be beat. The whole resort is beautifully done and... More
