Kicked our tour of Zanzibar off staying here in May (on a recommendation). I'm no prolific reviewer, but these guys deserve a special mention, as this hotel was incredible. Idyllic setting, excellent value but what absolutely blew me away was the food. The Octopus curry changed my life, and the mango Kingfish was so good I ate it two days... More

Blue Oyster is lovely, friendly, and very well-managed by a terrifically energetic and communicative staff. The rooms are clean and sunny, the restaurant run by a great staff, especially the incomparable Valentino. Everyone is helpful and welcoming and they remember your name and your particularities. You can swim (even at low tide) in sparkingly clean turquoise waters, go snorkeling on... More

Went directly here after coming down from the Mt. Kilimanjaro summit. Was exactly the right choice. The hotel is very nice and clean. The staff is friendly and welcoming. There isn't much to do - you come here to relax. Got deep into Dumas' Vicomte de Bragalonne while chilling out. Snorkeling is just ok - but you get taken out... More

This is such a relaxing destination - the colours of the ocean as the tide comes in and out are amazing - I sat on a sunbed and watched the whole day. The rooms are OK, basic but I preferred to be outside anyway. The food was a little slow in coming - sometimes an hour, but tasty all the... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Blue Oyster Hotel for one week in February 2014. It was a wonderful vacation, very romantic and fun and relaxing! Even though it rained a few times, it normally cleared up for the afternoon, and the sea was still warm and looked beautiful even on the days when it was overcast. The staff... More

I stayed at Blue Oyster for a week. It is a lovely mid-range medium size hotel set in beautiful gardens right on the beach. This must be one of the prettiest parts of the coast, show-casing the beautiful azure sea. Yes, the tide does recede a (very) long way, but it's possible to go further along the beach and walk... After one week safari in the Serengeti and other national parks of Tanzania, we flew to Zanzibar. At first we spent 2 days in Stone Town, which we enjoyed very much, then we drove to the east coast to the small village of Jambiani. Even the arrival was promising: the porter opened to us the gate and we were very... More

It was the third time for me to go back to Blue Oyster. I find the hotel excellent, in a beatiful locotation, just on the beach. Amazing views and colors of the sea. Right place for resting. The food at the restaurant is delicious and good value for money. The hotel is very well organized and the staff is very... More

We didn't stay at the Blue Oyster as were on a shoestring budget but we came often for their lovely drinks, food & atmosphere. The staff were so nice & the service top notch. You read often about theft in Zanzibar but I want to write about my experience of wonderful honesty here. We had lunch at the BO &... More

We were in Blue Oyster for the second time. It was perfect for a quiet stay after our safari on the mainland. At our first visit five years ago, we only went to Zanzibar and we found it a lovely place to spend our beach holiday together with some smaller activities like the spice tour or dhowtrip. The excellent management... More
