Visited the place during a backpacking trip. Very affordable, clean, helpful staff, nice rooms, etc, etc. And since the owners are Italian, their restaurant makes probably some of the best dishes on the island( all freshly made). Their commissions on trips like snorkeling, fishing, sailing were a little high (sometimes doubling the normal price). But a walk down the beach... More

For a reasonable cost, you can beautiful, crystal clear sea water, sea front view, safe and tasty food, well organised excursions. A good menu - some delicious (beef al barolo, seafood curry), some a bit less inspiring (quite dry, oven baked dishes), and a menu available all day. Reasonable prices - £8 an evening meal (though why a pressed juice... More

My friend and I came to Zanzest after our Mt. Kilimanjaro climb and Safari. We had spent a couple nights in Stone Town before as well. Zanzest was so perfect, it was quiet and clean and everyone was so welcoming. Just what we needed after the first two weeks in Tanzania. The owners were wonderful and very accommodating to whatever... More

When I first arrived at zanzest my impressions were that it was pretty much ok, not amazing, but far from terrible. This feeling stayed with me throughout my stay. The price is bordering pricey for what you get. The rooms are small, we had a double room and I felt claustrophobic in there. One bedroom had a tiny single bed... More

From all the places I had a chance to see in Zanzibar, this is the most unique and romantic. Private beach (not really, but nobody else can use it...), great food, and lovely service. The place managed by Italian couple so you can trust the decoration and food quality :)

I stayed at zanzest for three nights with my boyfriend and we had such an ideal stay. The place is small and sweet and the owners are very welcoming and happy to sort any problems that may occur. The food in the restaurant is delicious ( only slightly negative point is the service is a bit slow but it didn't... More

This place was just okay. The beach was pretty but there was so much coral it's not a great place for swimming. We spent three nights in the Hippo room which was billed as being beachfront....and it was, kind of. It was set way back from the beach and there is actually another structure in front and off to the... More

During my holiday on Zanzibar, I stayed in several hotels. The Zanzest satisfied me more than any other hotel. The hotel is small and remote, allowing its guests easily to relax. The rooms are basic, but clean. The restaurant provides local and Italian food of high quality. All hotel employees are really helpful and friendly. Especially the hotel manager is... More

On the southern end of Jambiani, you will find Zanzest, located right by the beach -- it almost has a little private bay. Walking to central Jambiani is almost a bit far, but who needs to walk if you can spend the day relaxing in this beautiful sandy beach paradise, with a bunch of bungalows to stay in. It was... More
