This was our first African Safari and now we're hooked. Paperbark Retreat is a beautiful tranquil getaway; a great place to both unwind and explore. Nestled in a spectacular valley, the retreat had the darkest and most magnificent night-skies we had ever seen. The whole On Track Safari team cannot be praised highly enough. Carol was a wonderful, gracious host... More

Our first trip to Africa started at Paperbark. After a long trip from California we arrived at night so we did not see the beautiful valley till the next morning. Comfortable, well appointed bungalows with fire place with african influenced authentic decor.Food was fantastic- plenty at every meal, locally sourced if possible. Recharge your batteries in this ideal location deep in the heart of glorious bush - nature at its best in luxurious lodges with every comfort catered to. This retreat is in a conservancy and is therefore unobtrusive and at one with the environment. Carol is an amazing hostess - welcoming and cannot do enough for you as well as being... More

Our stay at Paperbark Bush Retreat was amazing. The area is beautiful, the people warm and friendly and our bungalow had us saying "Wow" at every turn. We learned so much on our bush walks, the birds and mammals were such a joy to see. Meals were delicious and the conversation was lively. Our 5 days with Gerrie Camacho were... More

The four days we spent at Paperbark were the highlight of our month long trip to South Africa. The accommodation was wonderful and the food excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the day we spent tracking Grace the Leopard and learnt a huge amount about leopards and conservation in general. This is no ordinary safari lodge!

We spent two weeks holiday, part here, part on safari. Our second African holiday but we wanted more this time than maximal animal numbers. We learnt a lot about tracking, recognising spoor and scat, camera trapping and more. Will and Carol were excellent hosts and our accommodation was fantastic. Anton was a great guide, very knowledgeable, he could even call... More

If you are looking for a place to de-stress, and is away from the hustle and bustle, then this is the place. My husband and I arrived here fresh off an overnight flight from London. We were bowled over on arrival. It is set in a stunning location, the accommodation is top class, and the food, great. It was perfect... More

We saw, heard and learnt about an enormous variety of insects, birds, herbivores and carnivores including the ‘big five’, as well as vultures and eagles, spiders and butterflies. We tried our hand at ‘camera-trapping', went on game drives and bush walks with guides who shared their enthusiasm and knowledge with us. Great hospitality, and expertise from hosts and guides who...
