We stayed at the Lodge for 2 nights in March 2015 and it really is simply the best. We went to visit the battlefield sites and found it an excellent choice for our visit. Perched on the hillside overlooking Isandlwana, the Lodge is beautifully appointed. We stayed in the Cetshwayo Room, which had splendid views over Islandlwana and believe all... More

For history buffs regarding the Anglo Zulu War of 1879 this establishment cannot be surpassed . From the sensational views of the Battlefield , to the excellently presented staff , and the wonderfully passionate live in Guide , ( Rob ) , are only surpassed by the 5 star food service , which is a magnificent effort , considering in... We had an amazing stay at this wonderful Lodge. The staff are excellent and the service supberb. The Lodge was like an 'Oasis' once we reached it after a long drive. Our room was overlooking a wonderful view of the 'battlefields'. We took two tours with the very experienced and enthusiastic guide and were left totally enthralled by his interpretation... More

Stayed 25-27.03.15. This place really is a gem and ideal for covering the battlefields. The food was good enough and the service was excellent. The room (12) that we had was large and the shower cubicle almost big enough for a game of football. The guide Rob Gerrard was so knowledgeable and patient and a delight to listen to. I... More

We travelled across from Hluhluwe probably the long way on gravel and dirt roads. Taking in the landscape and terrain of the area. As other reviews, Peter gave us a great welcome and his team took great care of us. A special thanks to Rob such passion. We recommend the tours of the battlefields and the village. All in all... As other previous reviews have stated the location and design are unique . The main lounge and dining room are are full of fascinating memorabilia. We stayed for 3 days and each day led to another discovery. Even if you are not a history buff, this lodge and its staff are not to be missed. The staff are really the... More

As other reviewers have said, Isandlwana Lodge is 'of the place' it represents. It is Zulu, it is colonial British-African. It is spacious and grand, rustic and authentic. We were initially disappointed to not get a rez at Ratray's Place in Rouke's Drift--but are we glad! The telling of the history by Rob Gerrard represents a sadly lost art of... More

A friend and I arrived without a booking after our accommodation at Dundee let us down. We saw signs on the main Nqutu road for the lodge and battlefield, and decided to try our luck without a reservation. The receptionist gave us a price, which was beyond our budget, which was unfortunate because the hotel was stunning and the view... More

The spectacular view of the battlefield from the very well appointed and comfortable room was memorable. All the facilities, the food and the staff were of a very high standard and the small shop in reception was well worth a visit. Rob, the crusty, ex military guide was exceptional and kept us spell-bound as he relived the historical events. Visitors... More

We spent 2 nights here and took tours arranged by the lodge to Isandlwana and Rorke's drift battlefields.-wonderful! Our room was beautiful with a modern bathroom, lots of space and a spectacular view. Maggie, co-owner, and her staff are lovely and Rob Gerrard, their resident historian is a mine of fascinating information. We have no hesitation in recommending the whole... More
