We spent two nights here, but I am still unsure of whether we have been in an hotel or in something stranger, similar to an adventure camp...Not good as hotel, but intriguing as a camp. So I gave an "average" rating, which actually does not fit either. For instance, in the morning, we woke at the deafening songs of nearby... More

We stayed in Chicanna for one night on our way from Palenque to the Riviera Maya. The resort is in the middle of nature and visited by many birds. We thought this was a small hotel, but there are probably a dozen of the same two story buildings on the premises. This means the hotel is unexpectedly large and therefore... More

Chicanna Ecovillage Resort Campeche near the town of Xpujil and the border with Guatemala is a birdwatcher's paradise located close to a host of Mayan ruins. The resort facilities are comfortable and inexpensive, as resorts go, and the onsite restaurant offers very good food, with superb service by well trained and earnest waiters. Our group of friends/birders have been coming... More

This collection of mainly two-storey, four unit buildings is set in well-kept grounds with a very good pool. The Ecovillage is located just opposite the entrance to the Chicanná ruins – close enough to walk there. Also nearby are the Balamkú, Becán and Xpujil ruins, all worth a visit for their impressive remains and natural settings. The accommodation is spacious,... More

We were on a Mayan Ruin Tour for five days and to our surprise we arrived at this Oasis! Sooo charming and very comfortable. The Beds were firm - just like we like them! Everything was lovely. The restaurant could not do enough for you. The service was slow but we were 30 people ask for everything! Ha! If you... More

When you turn in off the highway it will be a surprise that you see no hotel, only a guard shack with a turnstile. Still not sure why they need that but in a couple hundred yards and around a turn you see the resort. It is not intended to look impressive. The lodgings and the birds are the point... More

Regretably we only stayed here one night! The grounds were lovely, the rooms clean. Furnishings were simple, no AC, no TV, good cross breeze. We had 2 first floor rooms, every room has a porch with chairs. Staff were nice and helpful. There was some traffic noise from highway, but we were in building closest to the road and it... More

Located amongst trees in forest, the hotel is popular with birdwatchers. Indeed the hotel has its own bird watching tower above the canopy of the surrounding Forest. Wifi is only accessible at reception area. The pool is. Nice and of good size, rooms are well appointed and large in size. The restaurant serves reasonable food, but are reluctant to accept... More
