The Chicanna Ecovillage Resort is one of the few decent hotels right off the Chetumal-Escarcega highway No 186 and ideal for visiting a number of remarkable arqueological Mayan excavation sites in the southern part of the Yucatan peninsula such as Calakmul, Bekamku, Chicanna and Xpuhil. The hotel rooms are in bungalow style houses, are comfortably furnished and have balconies in... More

We didn't pick where we were staying, but we had flexibility about where we ate. This location is so remote that there wouldn't reasonably be an alternative. So we joked for days about the cat vomit and prissy queen. Oh, so wrong. The chef totally knew what she was doing, the wait staff was sweet, and David was absolutely charming.... More

On our last trip, we were driving across the peninsula and decided to pull into this hotel to stay a night. It was a very nice location, the grounds were very well kept and the restaurant served great food. My complaints may be petty, but the beds were VERY hard! Also, internet is only available in close proximity to the... More

We stayed in the Ecovillage for 3 nights, to be able to explore the Biosphere. (It's a 1.5 - 2 hour drive from Calakmul,) And we loved the hotel. As said, the rooms are spacious but simple. No airconditioning (but no need for it in the winter) and no tv (which I personally thought was great). The food in the... More

Stayed here for 1 night as a stop-over when coming from the mountains and going to the eastcoast. The rooms are nice, spacious and clean. The restaurant is dull, small and has a lack of atmosphere. A lot of drinks ( fanta, coke) was not availabe and some dishes on the menu could not be made...There is a small pool... More

This was my second time I stayed here. The first time I was amazed. However, this time the service was so-so. Staff at the restaurant was very nice, but they forgot to arrange our take away packs (instead of breakfast) so we went to Calakmul starving! The receptionist, a young guy, was acting very weird, silent, not attentive. Not a... More

The rooms are spacious and clean. The whole property seemed clean and well taken care of. The food in the restaurant was good, but a bit overpriced. The hotel is situated in the jungle and therefore it is very quiet. It has a good location to visit the ruins of Chicanna, Becan and others. I can recommend this place as... More

This hotel is a real oasis in the jungle, close to magical archeological sites. Calakmul is a must! We considered this one of the best stops on our tour, which we made in a comfortable car we hired from MEXTROTTER- a most recommendable internet firm) We stayed for 2 nights and loved the neat and beautifully decorated rooms in separate... The Chicanna Ecovillage was very pleasant to stay at. Luckily we drove here & brought our own box fan because we know we require more moving air! I think this time of year is perfect for this type of hotel. It is set up like a little village of quadraplexes & a few duplexes. All are painted a different color... More

We spent just 01 night in this hotel as we wanted to visit Chicanna & Becan - the archeological zones nearby. Rooms are very basic, old fashioned furniture, beds not really comfortable, but ok for 01 night. Restaurant service very slow, but food was ok, nothing outstanding. Service was friendly.
