Cycling the Great Glen Way with my wife our first stop after Fort William was Spean Bridge. A short ride up a quiet country lane from Gairlochy is The Old Pines. It is located in the most spectacular setting we have ever stayed. Looking across the mountain range to Ben Nevis, which was covered in snow. And the sun was... More

After a long day of travel and not taking what would be described as the short route to Old Pines. We pulled in and Wow, we were immediately greated at the door by the charming staff that promptly showed us to our room and offered us a pot of tea in the sitting room. With our long day only a... A beautiful, perfect, well-run small hotel in a pastoral, picturesque area of Scotland. We arrived tired and were treated to nothing but kindness, great hospitality, wonderful food, and a homey atmosphere that is hard to find in most hotels. After taking a long walk along a wild river, we had a great dinner. The four of us did not want... More

Just returned from a three-night stay at The Old Pines Hotel and Restaurant, Spean Bridge. The accommodation, hospitality and food are quite outstanding. If you are walking the Great Glen Way, this a fantastic stop-over. Thoroughly recommended.

We arrived by train, and were met at the depot n Spean Bridge by The owner of Old Pines at the station. He drove us to the hotel. I saw pictures of the hotel and setting before arriving, but the beautuiful pictures do not do justices towhat at you see from the hotel. Snow covered mountains, rolling brown/red/green hills, grazing sheep,... More

I stayed here for one night on my Lands End to John o'Groats bicycle tour...very expensive, considering it's a hotel and retreat I found the staff to be very unwelcoming and wanting to grab money from me at every opportunity. After cycling 100 miles, mostly in the rain, I arrived at the hotel and was shocked when the receptionist asked... More

My wife, daughter, and I left the United States to visit Scotland and traveled from Edinburgh to the Isle of Mull, but the hospitality we enjoyed at the Old Pines was second to none. We stayed 2 nights there and slept comfortably each night in the cozy but full-featured rooms. The food was exceptional, with rich full breakfasts and gourmet... More

The “Old Pines Hotel” is located on a lovely slope with spectacular views over the valley toward the surrounding mountains. The place is scenic, with a rustic "feel", very clean, with comfortable furnishings and remodeled bathrooms. Lots of windows in the public area offer amazing vistas. There is a restaurant with very good food and a comfortable lounge. There is... More

We holiday regularly at nearby Banavie and never fail to visit the Old Pines for dinner. The welcome is warm, the setting magnificent with views across to the Nevis range of mountains, and the atmosphere very relaxed in the cosy lounge area and adjacent restaurant. The food, although quite simple, is always a delight. The venison is a signature dish... More

Another super visit to a truly lovely hotel. Once again, my family and I were given a warm welcome. Tea and scones on arrival then a beautiful meal at night. The fresh fruit salad at breakfast was so fresh and packed full of a wide variety of fruits and berries. Yum! The surrounding area is outstanding and there are plenty... More
