After being quoted silly money for a stay in Fort William, I opted for a budget option at the Spean Bridge Hotel. It would be easy to match many of the earlier reviews in terms of the obvious problems at the hotel, but that wouldn’t necessarily reflect that the hotel is now under new management, and will shortly be closed... This hotel enjoys an impressive roadside position but sadly, this is where any praise ends. Once over the threshold it becomes apparent that the hotel is dated, cold and devoid if any welcome. We went in for carry out food as we were staying at a local caravan site. Fish and chips were the most expensive I have ever encountered... More

2nd time here in 2 years and sadly unchanged. The business has been on the market for the last 7 years and this is reflected in the sorry state of the infrastructure and the quality of service. Heard a rumour it has recently been bought by a chinese investor so maybe things will change soon. Our room was damp and... More

I had just climbed some hills close to Spean Bridge and in need of sustenance stopped off at Spean Bridge Hotel . There is a fish and chip shop as part of the hotel and in the evening accessed through the hotel . I asked for fish and chips to take away and paid £9.95 for a less than average... More

Having already booked the hotel for a one night stop on a motoring holiday, I subsequently read some not so good reviews and was slightly apprehensive. However I was pleasantly surprised. The welcome was good, the breakfast was good value and the room, albeit slightly compact, provided all the facilities we required. We did not eat in the evening so... More

I stayed here with a group of friends while we walked up Ben Nevis. It wasn't our first choice, but when we came to book it was the nearest place where we could all stay in the same place. I had a room in the main building. The interior has pine cladding and looks very dated. The bed was rather... More

Stayed for a couple of nights. The rooms are overpriced and run down. The chalets have no windows. The service at the Bar and food was good. Wifi is only available at front office and even that is patchy. There are better options at Fort Williams.

Just read your reply to my review. There were most definitely people drinking in the office behind the glass at reception. Whether it was staff or guests is irrelevant it is a most awful first impression and the hotel delivers very little after this. Perhaps a more hands on approach is needed I rum my own business and always know... More

Rented 2 chalets with my family, beds were nice, though bathroom were not very modern they were just right for use. The reception doesn't seem to be always open for questions but I only had 1 small question and was staying for just one night so there was no problem. All in all a nice place! 4 people chalets are... Hotel is much in need of upgrading. Surprised it got 2 stars. There were tiles hanging off the bath panel. The bathroom had a carpet which was disgusting not to be walked on in bare feet. Breakfast was extra and very poor with a 60p charge for additional items. Not a cheap hotel so would expect a bit more. We... More
