We were a group of 4 New Zealand travellers and stayed here before crossing over to Belfast on the ferry. We had a very pleasant and happy stay. Fiona and Alan went out of their way to ensure our comfort. Fiona kindly gave us a meal, although we hadn't booked in in advance. We advise booking in for an evening... More

Had a extremely leisurely stopover at "The Merchants House" before our ferry to Larne. Bedrooms were very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Alan and Fiona gave a very warm welcome and bent over backwards to meet our every need. Our 3 girls slept safely and soundly upstairs while we enjoyed a cosy drink in the bar downstairs. Breakfast the next morning... More

Many thanks for this super review, Kate. It was lovely to meet you and your family when you stayed here. I hope you all had a fabulous time at the wedding and the girls enjoyed seeing all their cousins again. We hope to see you again next time you are going to visit the family in Ireland. More

The Merchants house is set on the main road through Cairnryan opposite the sea. Its a nice setting. You never know when you knock on the door of a B&B what is waiting on you, so this one was a lovely surprise, the door was opened to a world of warmth and a great friendly smile. From the minute we... More

Many thanks for taking the time to review The Merchants House and we are very glad that you enjoyed your stay. Due to our location within walking distance of both Cairnryan ferry terminals, you are quite correct in thinking that the vast majority of our guests are having a stopover either on their way to or from the Irish sea... Stayed here after a day out to Belfast Zoo, arrived on the late Stena ferry, welcome was warm and inviting even late at night! Room was very comfortable, our son gave it his seal of approval! Everything you need for a good night's rest. Breakfast the next morning was super, tasty and served with care. Continental or full Scottish, it... More

We stayed here to catch the early morning Ferry to Larne. This is not a large B&B but is ideally located for the Ferry Terminlal. We had the only non en suite room with a shared Bathroom but this was perfectly fine, the room was clean and comfortable, We had a drink in the Bar, ate a really nice Meal... More

The Merchants House is well placed on the beautiful waterfront of Loch Ryan just 1 mile from the Stena ferry terminal. The owners (Alan & Fiona) could not have been better hosts. I had a good nights craic with them, had a great nights sleep in the cosy bedroom and a wonderful full Scottish breakfast! Great value too. Well worth... More

Well, what can we say about the Merchants House, summed up… fantastic little gem of a place. We arrived prior to our sailing to Ireland the next morning for our biking holiday. The proprietors Alan and Fiona were great, nothing was too much trouble. Very hospitable and very down to earth honest people. The Merchants House itself was very comfortable,... More

Stayed one night after arriving off the last ferry. Made extremely welcome by very friendly, smiley hosts. My room was really comfortable and the shower was powerful and hot - could have stayed in there all night. Had a fantastic sleep. I only had a continental breakfast, however the full Scottish looked very substantial and others said it was lovely.... More
