The location is great, right on the old streets with the lovely independent shops and restaurants, also right near the cathedral and castle. Also to be noted there is a strong night life presence at weekends. The hotel itself was outdated, which has its own vintage charm in keeping with the area, however it did look like it needed some... Stayed here with a work colleague after failing to achieve an 8pm check in time at another hotel. The hotel is dated , very dated , untidy , chairs and tables piled up all over the rear entrance , other furnishing and objects seem to clutter the place , it needs a good spring clean. The bar area is small... More

Initial impressions not good....untidy rear area full of stacked chairs and misc. other bits, surly ( almost rude) receptionist..worn decor with tired furniture, hallucinogenic stair carpet and strange (Thai?) wall hangings etc....but room was ok apart from dodgy electrics and dreadful worn out taps and horrible loo seat...beds comfortable and pillows ok quite large.....did not have dinner...but breakfast produced further... A weekend planed and booked for 6 months. Horrified with the state of cleanliness in our room. The glasses cups and kettle were covered in think dust. The whole room was filthy thick dust. Our clothes were covered in dust. Asked for our room to be cleaned. They dusted the telly!! Spoke to chinese lady in morning, who I think... More

Me and my partner have eaten here as a couple and in a large group and both times the food was outstanding! Staff in the small dining room were lovely and friendly. Only downside was the very unhelpful member of staff behind the front desk and unorganised waiting staff at a private function we attended. Overall, if your looking for... More

We visited the Gordon House Hotel restaurant quite by chance when we were walking along the High Street. Luckily they were able to fit us in and gave us a lovely welcome.
