We dropped in for tea after a blustery cliff top walk. The cream tea was excellent - delicious fresh, warm scones and plenty of cream! The place has real character and the staff were very welcoming. I agree with previous reviews that the entrance could be improved, but this is a minor issue in such an interesting and historic place.... More

We stayed at Bleak House in December for my birthday and even in the depths of winter, the crackling fires and beautiful Christmas decorations made it very cosy. All of the staff are absolutely lovely and they were really helpful with every aspect of our stay. The hotel is full of history and as I did part of my Masters... More

For the ultimate luxury break in beautiful Broadstairs, do stay at Bleak House. Dating back to our wars with the French, this fantastic property oozes with Broadstairs' history, from the smugglers tunnels cuts by hand out of the chalk cliffs and accessed from the basement, to the study complete with writing desk and chair where Charles Dickens penned Nicholas Nickeby... The staff at this hotel are very welcoming, helpful, friendly and by far the best aspect of Bleak House. We stayed in the Copperfield Suite which has a spectacular view of Broadstairs. The room is in desperate need of some decor TLC. The bed side lamps and chandelier are particularly hideous - but humourlessly so. The room could be absolutely... More

Was not disappointed staying at Bleak House. Can understand why this was one of Charles Dickens favourite places for inspiration. The history breathes from the walls especially at this time of the year with large open log fires and tall beautifully dressed Christmas trees. Rooms are large and creatively decorated sporting paintings of Dickens characters. We stayed in Fagin's room.... More

What a truly lovely place Bleak house is! Was lucky enough to join friends for a wonderful Christmas there! The service was second to none, we were all greeted by Jeff , looking rather Dickensian in his top hat! From then on our coats were taken and we were shown to the bar for a lovely glass of bubbly, there... More

Just celebrated a surprise wedding anniversary with my wife, the Copperfield suite is stunning with a bath for two and the most stunning views of the beach. Breakfast was great freshly cooked to order with a good buffet selection as well. All the staff were so helpful and friendly. The Christmas decorations really get you in the festive spirit. The... Our 3-day stay was a surprise celebration of a significant birthday. Bleak House has history in spades and the Copperfield Suite has a fabulous view of the sea and across Viking Bay. The enormous suite has a comfortable big bed and a bathroom almost as big. Everything is ... eclectic; it's an experience; but don't expect a 5 star hotel,... More

Lovely hotel and I would endorse others comments that how very friendly and so very helpful the staff at Bleak House were - absolutely nothing was too much trouble and thank you . When we arrived however the entrance sign to the hotel was wrongly posted and the gate to it was shut. We had to go back to the... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, all comments are noted, i can only apologise that upon arriving in the rain that the gate was closed and that you had to use the side entrance.
