We stayed for one night New Years Eve, stayed in Room 1. Small double room, nice comfortable bed. Good en suite. The B&B is on a very busy road between Matlock Town and Matlock Bath. We booked an hour in the hot tub, this was excellent. Roger and Maureen (and Max the dog) were very helpful and welcoming. The breakfast... More

Many thanks for your review, fully understand your view on the tables, it's a tricky one as we can have up to 12 guests staying at anyone time and we can't fit in 5 indivual tables, quite often the families can be up to 6 in number who want to sit together hence the large table, but as with yourself we... I booked the Cables for a surprise weekend away during which I proposed. I asked Roger to put some champagne and flowers in the room for when my fiance and I returned from our day out. We were both blown away by what had been prepared in our room - rose petals all over, fairy lights, cuddly toys, congratulations signs!... More

Wonderful BandB. I only stayed one night but they were so kind and accommodating. I had a lovely room with ensuite shower and lovely double bed- very comfortable. Breakfast was magnificent - home made bread! And lovely coffee. There was a huge choice and next time I go I will try the porridge!

Maxine and I have stayed twice before and will stay again. Host Roger seems to think of everything and endless options available. Nothing's too much trouble. Already looking forwards to the next visit. If you can't enjoy this modestly priced B & B, you won't enjoy anywhere.

Fab hot tub.. and very comfortable bed..... other than that the noise generated by staff and other visitors ruined what was supposed to be our much deserved "quiet relaxing weekend" and that all the little extras... (the so called welcome drink on arrival) which at first appears to be a nice gesture.. but then your asked to pay for it...... More

A weekend away for the Venetian nights (illuminations) and the fireworks found us checking in at the Cables. Upon our arrival, Rodger and Maureen offered welcoming drinks in the front room as other guests arrived, what a pleasant surprise and nice touch. The accommodation was faultless; a quality, hearty English breakfast sets you up for the day, prior to either... More

Trip booked originally for Matlock Bath Illuminations for a family get-away. Much more to do than anticipated. Abraham Heights cable cars to the lead mine, thought I would conquer my fear of heights, but unfortunately I didn't succeed, but glad I did it. Visited Matlock Town, Chesterfied and National Trust Hardwick Hall. The breakfasts at Stone Lodge and the table... More
