We stayed at Cables in August for 5 nights. This was our fifth time and as always Roger and Maureen welcomed us warmly. The hot tub is rather special and a must if you stay here. Roger is an excellent cook and we can really recommend his evening meals. We stayed in the room with the king size bed which... More

Arrived to be welcomed by Roger and a cup of tea/coffee with a cake thrown in for good measure, room was spotless and well fitted with everything to hand. It was my wife's 65th birthday and Roger had placed some wonderful little touches in the room. Breakfast was a treat, plenty of it and a wide variety of items not... More

Just returned from my second stay this year. Couldn,t wish for any more. Rooms clean and plenty big enough. Breakfast is excellent and the evening meal is very highy recommended although you do need to book the day before as its supplied and cooked fresh. Overall a great base within easy walking distance of Matlock and Matlock Bath. An absolute... More

Had a great stay at the cables. The Gooner Roger was a great host and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. We had the four poster in room 1 and the Sunday night 9till 10pm slot in the hot tub! Clean and comfortable room, little extras in the bathroom like spare toothbrush and deodorant if you have forgotten to pack... More

We spent one night at The Cables as a stop gap, the room was quaint, well catered and the staff were very helpful and friendly, breakfast was great! Unfortunately the B&B was on a main busy road and lacked parking which didn't suit us well other than that it was a pleasant stay.

I am a little surprised by these comments all the rooms have double glazing and shutters and curtains which eliminate all road noise and fans are provided for hot weather, we have parking for 11 cars plus a garage no one ever has to park on the road, I take comfort in the fact that the 6 other reviews posted... The view of the cliffs from the garden was an unexpected surprise. We stayed here one night to be close to Chatsworth House, but it would be an ideal location for a fishing, hiking, climbing, kayaking holiday. The atmosphere was welcoming and the breakfast was fabulous. I was concerned about road noise (I'm a light sleeper) but I didn't notice... More

When we stayed last October our fruit pies where a bit overdone, being polite we never mentioned anything but Roger noticed and would not charge us for them.We realised this couple work extremely hard running 2 adjoining properties and no we didnt see maureen much but could not fault anything as we understood how hard they work
