We've been to Matlock bath many times but never stayed overnight so we were really looking forward to it. We've often walked passed Hodgkinsons hotel (which is central) and thought it looked warm and inviting. Parking is 50yrds up a side street and free. Once inside its hard to know where to look. Its beautiful oldey worldly decore. Our double... More

What a cracking hotel this is - an amazing building full of charm and character. The decor is perfectly sympathetic to the era of the hotel and it seems that most if not all original features have been preserved. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable of the area- the chef is exceptional so make sure you eat here. Had the added... More

We stayed just for one night but I wish it was more. It is such a wonderful hotel and so different, it's like stepping back in time with style. Chris & Zoe are the perfect hosts and all the staff were very friendly. The extensive breakfast menu caters for all customers and was first class. The room we stayed in... More

Spent a couple of days here to celebrate brother and sister in law 25th wedding anniversary. Chose it due to Trip Advisors reviews which reflects the place completely. This is far the best all round establishment I have stayed at. The customer service the food and the ambience are top class. Chris and Zoe always there with sound advice, never... More

Booked a couple of days away as a treat. Couldn't have found anywhere better. Chris, Zoe and their staff are very helpful and attentive without being obtrusive. Stayed in Callow, a lovely characterful room, as is the whole hotel. The evening meals and breakfasts were first class. The history of the place is quite amazing, with the original handwritten ledgers... More

We used this venue as for a small sales meeting earlier this week, as an alternative to the usual city centre hotels. The place has real character and this enhanced the atmosphere of the meeting. As we were a group of 7, we had the whole place to ourselves. The food was excellent and the service was superb. I am... More

From the moment we arrived we couldn't have been made more welcome. Our room was lovely and old fashioned without it feeling dated. Tea & Coffee making facilities were not just the standard teabags & coffee sachets but also tea leaves, fresh ground coffee and homemade biscuits. Zoe & Chris are very nice, as are all the staff. Can't wait... More

This is a top class hotel, beautiful inside, room was fabulous (Eyam) - very peaceful and quiet despite being at the front of the hotel. Great choice for breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommended and would certainly stay there again. We had a lovely time and would have liked to stay a bit longer.
